When Emma Waltz, MPAS ’26, began planning her clinical rotations, she knew she wanted to go international. That decision took her to Cape Coast, Ghana, where she worked in internal medicine at a teaching hospital and saw everything from malaria and tuberculosis to heart and kidney failure.

Outside of the hospital, she spent time getting to know the culture: learning batik fabric-making, trying local dishes, and experiencing daily life in a completely new environment.

Now back in Pittsburgh, she’s continuing her clinical training with a broader perspective on both healthcare and the world around her. Read more of Emma’s story at the link in our bio! by @chathamupaprogram
