Saturday morning loop of the Cotswolds with @robs_ridesanddrives and @adamphelps91 , making the most of a dry day before winter sets in. Despite being able to feel the weight of the ISF over undulating sections, it was so much fun. Hopefully some tweaks over winter will further improve the car.

7 months since getting the ISF on the road. It consumes premium fuel at an extortionate rate, but sounds great (especially since @boob86 fitted the @xforceusa valved exhaust) and walks the line between everyday usability and hooligan well.

A few small tweaks planned over winter, but otherwise I’ll keep using it at every opportunity until the gritters turn up.

Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026

Once again @subarumotorsportsusa brought one of the craziest cars to rip up Lord March’s driveway, being part of that experience and shooting for them for the third year running never gets old.

Massive thanks to @vegasyuji for the opportunity, the @goodwoodrrc Media Team and marshals for their help and being so accommodating over the event too.

The tradition of a Friday night at Nando’s continues on too, great to see friends new and old!

Another Curborough Sprint Day in the books!

Glorious weather, great bunch of friends and an incredible diverse selection of cars yet again, for one of my favourite days of the year.

First track outing for the ISF and while the track may not be ideal for a heavy sedan it was still a lot of fun, with times surprisingly similar to my Impreza but a totally different driving style required. (Thank you Ad for the video!)

Also had a spin in a few others cars, @paddygt ‘s Impreza; previously owned by Base8 in Japan. Such an incredibly well balanced car to drive and definitely one I wanted to take home.

Took @ben_lowden ‘s ND mx5 for a lap, which drove and sounded great after a bunch of recent upgrades. Can totally see the appeal to a light, revvy sports car.

Massive thank you to Mike and the team at @fradleyfryer for yet again sorting out a delicious lunch.

Same again next year!

Southside Hustle; an informal, word-of-mouth event held every first Sunday in Wimbledon. It had continually popped up on my social media feed, building a feeling of FOMO with each passing month to the point where the 5:15AM start was well worth the sacrifice.

It reminded me a lot of the early Queen Square meets in Bristol.

Get there early, find a parking spot and traverse the surrounding streets in search of automotive bliss in the idyllic setting of a sleepy London borough. It’s incredibly special, long may it continue.

Just how great are Super Tourers? Any opportunity to see 90s motorsport legends turn wheels on track can’t be missed and Members Meeting proves yet again to be the jewel in the crown for Goodwood events.

Had to cut the day slight short but left full of enthusiasm for the summer season of motorsport that’s to come.

It’s been a little over a month since getting the ISF on the road and when compared to my Spec C Impreza I sold late last year, they couldn’t be more different.

The Impreza always carried a sense of urgency in everything it did. You had to drive around the differentials and gearbox when cold and once warm, it was like a toddler who had managed to reach the snack drawer. Raucous, with lots of feedback, noise and grip.

The ISF has a character all its own and is very much a car of two totally different halves. Infinitely more useable and comfortable for day to day driving but has great pace and handling, along with an addictive V8 soundtrack.

After much deliberation around what to replace the Subaru with, the @dadcars88 video and the @pistonheads PH heroes post put the ISF on my radar. Patrick at @jdmauctionwatch helped secure a great example which upon import went straight to @boob86 for a complete service before spending a day with @tommyteapot at @meguiarsuk to get it gleaming, only to be driven into in the pub carpark that evening, but that’s in the process of being sorted.

Last week was the first opportunity to push the car a bit on a blast round the local lanes with @robs_ridesanddrives before he parted with his Cayman. It highlighted a few future tweaks - softer sprints and a catback exhaust to give a bit more theatre should help. It’ll sit nicely alongside the AE86 which is still slowly becoming more car and less garage ornament.

So I figured turning 40 should bring with it a degree of responsibility and maturity. So I bought a Lexus… with a 5.0 V8 shoehorned into the engine bay. Very sensible.

I wanted something that still retained the 4 doors/4 seats practicality and reliability of the Spec C, but was more useable for longer distance trips across the UK and into Europe.

It’s a late 2009/2010MY Lexus ISF that’s covered under 51k miles and is stock besides Ohlins coilovers, Wedsport TC105X wheels and a Pivot throttle controller.

Thanks to Patrick and the team at @jdmauctionwatch for assisting, this being the fourth time. Now the arduous wait for the car to arrive into the UK in January!

This does sadly mean the Subaru will be for sale with an advert to follow, but after nearly 5 years in my ownership, I’ve had loads of fun but time to move onto something else. (Bonus Alan Partridge quote.. IYKYK)

To a motorsport enthusiast, @prodriveofficial is an incredibly special place, having built upon a reputation of success and continued to deliver across multiple disciplines. Last month I set up some workshop visits for @larry_chen_foto and @lusciousy while they were over for Festival of Speed, the first of which was @jaguar.classic @landrover.classic . What an amazing place, with such a passionate team dedicated to preserving not only the history of the brands but restoring and improving their cars to modern standards.
