Eight years ago we met outside a block party full of sweaty men dancing in Speedos then went somewhere else to talk. Three years ago, we said “I do” in a park bursting with roses.

Happy anniversary to my real life sunflower who reminds me to turn towards the light, always.

I love you, Sarah! by @chayeslounge

I love a lawn ornament and double love gnomes. I definitely couldn’t pass up the Travelocity gnome cutie on Facebook Marketplace, and then my sweet wife gave him a house-matching makeover! Love!

So glad I married her! Happy Pride! by @chayeslounge

This is part of a quilt on display at the Renwick Gallery in their State Fair exhibition. The quilt was made by women who were incarcerated for crimes against their abusers. They belonged to a group called Battered Offenders Self Help and in 1995, they put this quilt on display at the Kentucky State Fair. The quilt tells the stories of the domestic violence the women endured. When the governor of Kentucky saw the quilt, he worked to commute the sentences of the quilters. He said that if he hadn’t seen it, “I’m quite confident that I, in the midst of all the other responsibilities of the job, would not have looked into this issue in the in-depth way that I did.”

The way we treat women who are victims of domestic violence, the way we treat incarcerated people in this country and still offering your light to others? That kind of love makes me cry every time. by @chayeslounge

It’s the “too” that does it for me. During the Covid quarantine, our kid-neighbors kept us laughing with their chalk art and inspirational stones.

Remembering how undeniably beautiful the Pacific NW is today. You don’t have to go far to see some of the most gorgeous nature. The tree in the first picture was right outside our front door! I once took a work week off just to swim in a different river everyday (Clackamas, Columbia, Lewis, Washougal, and Willamette) which is WILD that’s even possible to do. It has this feeling that at every moment you’re being invited to climb, scramble, or swim in a natural playground. If I were a Sasquatch, that’s where I’d live, too. Grateful I got to experience it! by @chayeslounge

Made a quick trip to @hirshhorn this afternoon to see the new @pendleton.adam exhibit “Love, Queen”. This was my first time seeing his work. I loved how sculptural these works on the walls were! The depth of the pieces made me linger, hoping to take it all in, glimpse each layer.

Then I hopped over to one of my favorite exhibits ever - Four Talks by @laurieandersonofficial It’s hard to get photos of the pieces that make up the Four Talks without capturing other museum goers, but I love them as much as I love the stream of consciousness painting on the walls and floor. I am inspired by how chaotic and thoughtful and humorous this installation is!!! by @chayeslounge

Most days, I can’t stop thinking about this public art I saw five years ago in Napoleon, OH. Those floating feathers are ominous. The cat is weirdly happy to be on a leash! Formal attire outside? Blessings to this creator. by @chayeslounge

The weather is fully in SPRING, but my brain is stuck on this day where two men approached me in public, separately, to tell me that I looked like Where’s Waldo.

Don’t worry, I told them I’m married and absolutely nothing happened. by @chayeslounge

During an 18-month period in my life, someone I cared about almost died from a drug overdose in front of me, my dad was diagnosed with cancer and then died within months, I was evicted from my apartment, my grandmother died, my dog died, and my position was eliminated at work.

Then I met a person who was houseless and they gave me a fortune cookie. This was the fortune inside! I love the abundance of it! “More art”, not just art, but MORE of it will help you feel better.

It’s been more than ten years since that all happened and I still believe it’s the truest and most valuable fortune I’ve ever received. by @chayeslounge
