I remember when I found out you were born! I had just lost my mom and it was such a hard time, but I believe God makes no mistake and it was always in the plan to bring light in what seemed like a moment of darkness! You are that! LIGHT! My 2025-2026 league year is halfway through and Iā€™ve had an incredible time serving in my community placement! I have had the chance to volunteer with the Atlanta Botanical Gardens during much of their Fall Family programming which has included apple-pie spiced sensory bins, pumpkin spiced playdough, seed mosaic art crafts and apple painted crafts, pumpkin bowling and bubbles all throughout Fall! I also had the opportunity to participate in my first ever Goblins in the Gardens event as a volunteer, where I worked with the ā€œHalloweenā€ Costume runway show and of course got to greet people with bubbles! Iā€™ve always enjoyed volunteering but interacting with children and their families this Fall has been a real highlight of joy in the chaos that is my FT employment/FT grad school life! lol As we wrapped up Fall, we unfortunately donā€™t have the opportunity to do more outdoor family programming again until Spring; however, thereā€™s always opportunities to experience the gardens as the Garden Lights event will begin this week! If youā€™re looking for a great place to take your family this holiday season, I encourage you to go visit ABG! Who knows you may see me around spreading joy šŸ¤©šŸ˜¬ In the interim, I hope you all enjoy my photos of an amazing Fall at the gardens! Was Toast of a Atlanta with the @jlatlanta a hit? WHY YES!! Did it help that my birthday was on Sunday also? Partially! šŸ˜‰ Am I going next year? Absolutely planning on it! Haha I enjoyed myself so much at Toast! I felt beautiful, raised some money to continue the amazing work of the League and had an amazing time with new friends that I believe will last a lifetime! ā¤ļø So incredibly grateful to spend my birthday weekend doing things that continue to bring me joy! DAY 5 I think my last video says it all, but itā€™s really just me saying THANK YOU AGAIN! The support from my community and network has been so amazing to witness! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! My word and phrase for the week was the following: Word for the week: IMPACT Phrase/Mantra for the week: ā€œFigure out your formula.ā€ I wanted to make an impact with every thing I am connected to this week and in order to do that, I needed to figure out my formula! Part of my formula has been to show up and be authentic. The other piece was staying committed. The work the JLA does was impactful long before I joined, but I plan to make an even greater impact with my advocacy through this medium. I am so grateful to be a part of an organization that rolls up their sleeves and gets to work. Know that, you will continue seeing how JLA works in our community through me. Itā€™s Day 3 of LBDI week and weā€™re still going strong! Thank you to all of my folks who have donated! You are so greatly appreciated!!! Today, I wanted to give you all some more stats and info to show the importance of this initiative and how your support will help! Nearly 40% of families in the highest need neighborhoods struggle to find housing. According to the U.S. census, 17.3% of Atlanta residents live in poverty. Nearly 14,000 teens are not connected to work or school. 61% of low income families do not have books at all in their home for their kids. The ratio of books per child is 1 age appropriate book per 300 children in low-income neighborhoods. 1:300 yall!!!! Look one of my favorite pastimes is reading a good book, but if I wasnā€™t eating or able to have clean clothes, let alone multiple options, the LAST thing I would be concerned with is whether or not a book is in my hand or if I could read it. My goal as well as the JLA is to end generational poverty and increase literacy rates through our advocacy! I was able to attend my first general body meeting last night and I learned so much about how we maintain our organization to keep doing this great work! I hope you will join me in supporting this cause with a donation to my fundraiser! No amount is too small and I would genuinely appreciate it more than you know!
