What does a Heritage Minute mean to the person behind the camera?

Director Charles Wahl brought Bora Laskin's Heritage Minute to life, but the story of Dr. James Naismith holds a special place for him.

For Charles, Naismith’s story is also a reminder of the power of creativity, perseverance and believing in an idea even when everyone else thinks it’s a little ridiculous.

In 2026, we’re celebrating 35 years of the Heritage Minutes with Canadians reflecting on the stories that continue to shape our understanding of the country. Join us each week as we explore Canada’s history — minute by minute.

Music isn’t just part of the culture here, it’s woven into the fabric of Nova Scotia.

So when our agency pals at @m5theagency asked us to collaborate on their new “Playlist” campaign for Tourism Nova Scotia @visitnovascotia , we mashed both the play and the record buttons on our collective boombox.

The result is a breakneck journey through our province set to the music of real artists who call this place home.

Massive thanks to Trevor Murphy
( @hfxisburning ) for playing the great connector between our team and the amazing artists featured throughout these edits. You can see the list of incredible artists featured below:
