Team @10thplanetburbank had an incredible showing today at @technical_bouts_pmt πŸ’₯ I grew up competing as a kid in Taekwondo or "traditional" martial arts comps so this was way more laid back on my mental hah just a fraction of the anxiety associated with Jiu-Jitsu. My opponent was game & hella scrappy, & thankfully after 2 hard fought rounds I was able to leave with the win πŸ₯‡πŸ₯³ Thanks to all the coaches & training partners in 10th Planet Burbank's Muay Thai program hah some might say we're just a Jiu-Jitsu school 🀫 @jaredcarlsten @handsomeman_muaythai @tmora10_ @bloodandbonewarrior #MuayThai #Kickboxing Shout-out to the greatest shin guards on the planet @onxlabs πŸ†πŸ™πŸ½ Shout out @pedrothedude who represented strong!! The other night I met the guy who planted the seed in regards to my life as a martial artist, @dolphlundgren at his book signing for his upcoming release, "Fights Worth Fighting: Finding Strength in Struggle" on September 22nd. Some of my earliest memories included watching #MastersofTheUniverse on a bootlegged VHS cassette tape & getting really into swords & combat. It got to a point where I would obsessively watch this tape on the daily until one day the tape had unraveled inside the VCR. That was a sad day indeed πŸ₯Ί Fast forward to many years later, I'm much older & walking through our local Giant Eagle grocery store in Ohio by their video rental section where they had the huge containers of DVDs for sale. I see my favorite film of all time just laying on top of the pile, it was the greatest reunion ever. Very grateful to now have it signed 😊 The mightiest handshake I've ever felt. Dude's made out of granite. I was telling him about an upcoming Muay Thai event that I'll be doing. We were told that we could only have one extra item signed besides the book but he was nice enough to not only sign Masters but also "Showdown In Little Tokyo" starring him & #BrandonLee πŸ™πŸ½ I also tried shooting my shot here & invited him for some BJJ over at @10thplanetburbank hah the response was "Ok" but the subtext was "Absolutely not" πŸ˜† On meeting Grace Jones The Rocky IV casting lady had turned him down 😀 I was fighting for my life trying to keep it together here πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™‚οΈ He talked about how his father was abusive & that his instructor was such a prominent figure in his life. It was very heartening to hear this parallel. My father was out of the picture when I was very young & my instructor was that missing link in my life as well πŸ™πŸ½ The book is called Fights Worth Fighting & Mr Lundgren has definitely fought his share of battles, continuing to inspire as he has recently kicked cancer in the face πŸ’₯ Hey @moviemantz πŸ‘‹πŸ½ πŸŽ₯: @taritavirtue Really awesome running into @taritavirtue πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έβœ¨πŸ«‘ Magnificent interior. Last night was the end of an era with @belmontla shutting its doors. Karaoke Sundays was such a legendary staple of West Hollywood & created an unbelievable community. Safe to say that it would not have been what it was without Rob Ebersole who hosted Sundays for 2 decades. He's not on social media but I just had to give this Hollywood legend his due in regards to the closing of this chapter. I'm really grateful to everyone that I've met there. Earned some stripes on the brown belt today. The brown belt era has been a very humbling experience to say the least. I've been going against black belts left & right in competition & it's definitely been hell, but that's absolutely the process that one has to go through in order to achieve greatness. Trial by fire to the highest level. I'm certainly my harshest critic & as a lifelong martial artist I know that I've yet to reach my potential. It's a mental & physical battle on the daily. *2025 Year In Review* - My Top 15 Albums of The Year @whitechapelband - "Hymns In Dissonance" A deathcore juggernaut led by a 3 guitar assault that will leave you wanting to call an exorcist by the end of the night @deafheavenband - "Lonely People With Power" A blackgaze power house that takes you on a darkened dreamscape @heavenshallburnofficial - "Heimat" These German legends have not missed a beat & keep getting better & better with what I feel is their greatest album yet. @blackbraid_kvlt - "Blackbraid III" Black metal's newest & brightest shining star returns with yet another phenomenal work of songs inspired by the spirits of both the Earth as well as those of ancestors past. @bloodredthroneofficial - "Siltskin" Norwegian death metal that could pass for that pure & original South Florida style. It's something that I truly appreciate in a band that comes from a nation that played such a big part in the birth of black metal @psychoframedc - "SALVATION LAUGHS IN THE FACE OF A GRIEVING MOTHER" This band blurs the lines of slam death metal & deathcore with sheer & brutal perfection. This album does not let up in the slightest @riversofnihil - "Rivers of Nihil" When a band releases a self-titled album later in their career it's usually when they feel that the album truly encapsulated their sound more than any other in the past. I'm all for it because I believe this is their best album to date @revocation - "New Gods, New Masters" Yet another incredibly solid technical death metal album from this musically consistent unit. @igorrr - "Amen" Blending together death metal with experimental influences as well as electronic elements like breakcore & trip hop, this album is all over the place in a controlled chaos sort of way that is a breath of fresh air in an often saturated heavy metal landscape @1914_official_page - "Viribus Unitis" Ukrainian blackened death metal that centers around themes of battle, conquest & tragedy pertinent to World War I era history Shadow of Intent - "Imperium Delirium" Ghost - "Skeleta" Deftones - "Private Music" Orbit Culture - "Death Above Life" Dawn of Ouroboros "Bioluminescence #deathmetal #blackmetal #melodicdeathmetal taken in Los Angeles, California by @chazzsutton2
