From Community College to Nobel Prize: Where You Start Does Not Define You
Where you begin does not limit how far your curiosity, discipline, and service can take you. This student-centered and inspirational workshop is designed for community college and university premed students who want to understand how a community college pathway can lead to world-changing biomedical research, medical discovery, and the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Fred Ramsdell, PhD, 2025 Nobel Prize recipient, will share his journey from Foothill College to UC San Diego, UCLA, the National Institutes of Health, biotechnology leadership, and landmark immunology research involving FOXP3 and regulatory T cells. Students will hear how persistence, mentorship, scientific curiosity, and long-term commitment can transform early opportunities into extraordinary impact. You can come, ask your questions and get answers in a supportive environment focused on possibility, access, and purpose. Most importantly, come hear directly from the source instead of second-hand or bad information or people who have no clue about the admission process, research training, or what it takes to build a meaningful life in science and medicine. @premedcc by @chcstem

As part of the CA Space Grant initiative, our team had the incredible opportunity to visit NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) in Edwards, CA ; NASA’s home for high-risk atmospheric flight research and testing. 🌎🔬

Our students toured facilities and hangars, connected with industry professionals, and presented their radio telescope project. And yes… some even got to stand on top of an FL-15 aircraft! 😎✈️

At Crafton, we’re proud to create hands-on STEM experiences that inspire curiosity, build real-world skills, and give our students a glimpse into exciting career pathways. 🚀

The future of STEM starts with experiences like these. 💫
