trailer for my new short film BASEMENT PARADISE

In a sweaty underground 90s bar, Popstar icon, Audrey Minx, makes a special appearance at the club. When two friends spot her from across the dance floor, they try their best to flirt with her without revealing they’re big fans. by @che.ethridge

Yi Yi (2000) is a masterpiece of the Taiwenese New Wave & a major inspiration for No Banjo Music. If you want a glimpse of what we’re chasing after with this project, then definitely give it a watch.

“Yi Yi is ultimately a film that imparts its meaning and its impact through its exquisite sense of balance—between here and elsewhere, past and present, the ideal and the conditional, the mundane and the extraordinary. It is a film of, and about, grace. And that is a rare thing.” ~ Kent Jones | Writer & Filmmaker

a few stills from the 2024 No Banjo Music short film ~

over the past few weeks, we’ve been sharing pieces from the short as we get ready to expand this story into a feature. it’s been really special and nostalgic to have this first version as a foundation for what comes next.

we’re grateful to have you all folllowing along. The hope for this page is that it can function as a production diary of sorts. So as we get closer to filming this july, we’ll continue bringing you deeper into the world of No Banjo Music.

but for now, this is how it began
