A calmed and quieted soul You have blessed me with. I have become like a weaned child with her mother; like a weaned child is my soul within me. O Lord, my God, my Friend and my Shepherd, to You alone do I give all the glory for this becoming. You have done what no man could do. You have dealt bountifully with me. At long last, my soul finally knows rest because it’s found You. You are my rest. All my days shall I praise You, for I have never known and will never know a better God than You. And so, for that and for who You are, I say thank You. For the testimony of my life thus far, I say thank You. For everything, my sweet, sweet Jesus, I say thank You.

Happy birthday, my Chizam. Who you are today at 21 is the fulfilment of dreams from many years ago, and witnessing your growth, though I am you, and experiencing God forming you truly reminds me that God listens and He indeed answers prayers—the very definition of your name, Chizamekpere. Being you at any age and at every age is and will forever be the greatest honour of my life. I love you so much, my baby. And I’m so glad I get to be you. You truly are my dream girl.

You are such a gift, Chizam, and my deepest desire for you today and for always is that you continue to experience more of you as you find yourself in Jesus.

I pray that you remain excited always. That is your superpower. Continue to love deeply and loudly and even affectionately. Protect your childlikeness; it is the colour you’ll need for the dull days. Keep asking questions. Your awe is inspiring. And always laugh loudly and scream excitedly. And probably most importantly, never stop experimenting with your foods. One day, the world will catch up to ogbono soup and bread. Until then, and even then, rest in the Lord. He is the restorer of your soul. He will never leave nor forsake you, and He truly delights in you.

While everyone else would be in the hallway and in the classrooms writing down the answers they got beforehand so they could cheat in the exam hall, I’d be in the toilet studying or praying to God before every exam. It was the only place nobody was frantically cheating in. And in my high school, every class had an auntie assigned to them (a lady who brought our short break snacks) and during WAEC period, she noticed I wasn’t in class as much whenever she’d come. One day, she stopped me to ask where I had been and I explained to her that I’m normally in the toilet studying or praying. I didn’t think she understood what I said until everyday after that she’d come to the toilet and bring my snacks for me or she’d tell me to come to the cafeteria and take it when I’m ready. God really took care of me in that season of my life.

As I was preparing to record this video, the Lord highlighted to me that it wasn’t the person who got all A’s that was used for the poster. It was me — the Jesus girl men disqualified. This is why I love looking ordinary because when the glory is revealed, there is no confusion about who to give thanks to. It all belongs to Jesus! Indeed, we are all saying “see what the Lord has done” (Numbers 23:23)

Two years ago around this time, I wasn’t sure the kind of uni I’d end up in but here I am I recording my testimony in the accommodation of one of the top leading schools in the UK. I couldn’t have done this on my own even if I tried. Thank you, Jesus for never taking your hands off me. My life is yours forever❤️ by @cheezaam

This month has been very reflective for me because April 1st, 2021, I said yes to Jesus and I never looked back. It’s been three years since and it feels like I only just began to understand the weight of my yes. I am called out, chosen and appointed for this time. My generation and generations to come will know that there was indeed a woman named Chizam but she wasn’t just any woman. They will know that I lived for God and carried His presence everywhere I went. They will know my results always stood out and there will be no denying that just like Gideon, the spirit of the Lord covered me with Himself like clothing.

With that said, there is still work ahead. I pray for me and for all who have said yes to Jesus that our hunger and thirst for Him will never die but will continually be satisfied. And may our palates never crave what does not glorify Him in Jesus name, Amen!
