What a year! I cant even begin to express the conflicting feelings between joy and overwhelm of balancing my life as a father and now as a restaurateur.

From finding this needle in a haystack, lease negotiations, planning and design, PERMITTING and finalizing the build all while sticking to a timeline that was already blown out of the water.

The nerve-wracking anticipation of just wanting to light our fires, open our doors and cook for people was absolutely agonizing and devastating every time we were given a new hoop to jump through.

The cleanup, the rebuild, the design, the worry of being accepted by the neighborhood, the stress, it has all been worth every sleepless night.

I am beyond proud of what Andrew, Mama Doris and our team have accomplished. Its absolutely surreal to drive to this place every day and call it our own.

Happy New Year! Cheers to another year of bringing you the finest barbecue this side of the border

Thank you for all your support 🤎 by @chef.kristopher

It’s official… Golden Horseshoe Barbecue has found its permanent home!

It’s time yall! As many of you know, my dream for Golden Horseshoe Barbecue has always been to open a restaurant of my own. Bringing the Texas barbecue that I fell in love with to all of you. Over the past year the response to our pop ups has been overwhelmingly positive, something I couldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams. There’s a historic building, on the corner of Christie and Dupont that’s fixing to be our permanent home. But wait…. There’s one more special announcement to make….

Give a big Golden Horseshoe welcome, to a mentor, great friend and now business partner @chef.kristopher. Over the last year Chef Kris has been monumental to my growth, success and I couldn’t be more happy to announce our partnership. Chef Kris hired me a couple years ago, I had no real culinary experience, no idea how to work a line, or really how to cook at all. He took me under his wing and taught me more then I thought I’d ever know. He was a pivotal player in giving me the confidence to start my own business. Kris is a classically trained Chef, with a studded career in fine dining as well as American classics. Not only does Chef Kris bring a ton of talent to Golden Horseshoe, but brings a creative, positive and upbeat attitude that ignited our relationship some years ago. So please welcome @chef.kristopher to Golden Horseshoe!!

I promise I’ll keep yall in the loop as things progress and we get closer to opening. But for now… THANK YOU. Thank you for allowing my dreams to come true ❤️ taken in Toronto, Ontario by @chef.kristopher

My first baby boy.
What a big year this has been.
So many new skills learned. So many more rules to follow. So many milestones reached.
Pre-school graduate, potty trained, big brother, and now off to kindergarten.
I am so proud while also feeling a cocktail of 100 other mixed emotions.
We have been practicing for months, and I think my only folly is I have directed all my focus on preparing him, and forgot to prepare myself. I'm riding the struggle bus pretty hard, lemme tell you! Postpartum hormones are not helping, I'm sure!
But he amazed us today, as he tends to do over and over again. No tears from him (just Mom), he took his teacher's hand and dove right in with both feet. Such a brave little guy.
Big hugs and all my love to all the parents (and babes) having a hard time today. May it get easier each week for us all. And a big thank you to everyone who checked in on me. Love y'all ❤️ Ya girl is not ok, but that's ok. I will be.
I love you bigger than the sky, my boy. I can't wait to pick you up.🥲 by @chef.kristopher

It was 30 years ago when I went to my first concert and it was Green Day at Maple Leaf Gardens! All these years later these guys still killed it! They played 35 songs in a row and didn't stop for over two hours🤯 Smashing Pumpkins were legendary as usual too! Thanks for the tickets @hansenandi #dookie #greenday #FOD

Edit: Huge shout out to @juliameneses_ and @realtorsara_ for watching the boys! Can't thank you enough 🙏🏻 taken in Toronto, Ontario by @chef.kristopher
