I am thrilled to share that @urbangrowerscollective Collective is activating this series of Garden Gatherings in a beautiful partnership with the @obamafoundation

Seeing the community fill the space today at the new Eleanor Roosevelt Fruit & Vegetable Garden at the @theobamapresidentialcenter Presidential Center was pure magic.

I designed and curated this series to activate the gardens and support multisensory explorations and civic snd docial engagement through food and this people’s garden. Inspired for and by @michelleobama and her public health and community care initiative "Let's Move"

This vision came to life through the brilliance of our phenomenal program staff who refined every operational detail, it is a dream to see this vision take root.

Together, we are reframing urban agriculture as a rhythmic, joyful practice of "growing people" and transforming the garden into a vibrant hub for food justice.

The garden is tended by our friends @chicagobotanic🌱

Here is a sneak peek of our finalized summer lineup (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM CT):
🌱 July 12 | Rooting Down for Resilience: Soil health, worm composting & microgreen tastings.
🐝 July 26 | The Pollinator Groove: Native Bee Hotels, bouquet design & local honey.
☀️ August 9 | Sun-Drenched Harmonies: Sun tea, herbal scent rollers & oral histories.
🥒 August 23 | The Preservation Waltz: Hands-on pickling, fermentation & food security.

Every single workshop features an inclusive “Let’s Move Session” welcoming all mobility and sensory abilities, backed by live sets from DJs and the @communityfoodnavigator Food Navigators will lead Garden Bingo, an engaging, interactive way to share resources on connecting with local growers and inspiring our neighbors to join the "grow local" movement.

We are officially ready for the main event, grand opening weekend! 6/19-6/21/2026
