I’m not just a chef — I’m a storyteller, a legacy carrier, and a woman rebuilding herself from the inside out. This journey has stretched me, tested me, and refined me in ways the world will never fully see… but God did. And He kept pushing me forward anyway.

Being featured in this Bold Journey blog post wasn’t just a moment — it was confirmation. A reminder that every step, every struggle, every quiet breakthrough was worth it. It made me stop and realize just how far I’ve come, and how much I’ve grown into the woman I prayed to become.

And I know my grandmother would be proud. Proud of the way I’m standing tall, proud of the way I’m honoring our roots, and proud that her love and recipes are still feeding my purpose. She’s woven into everything I touch — every dish, every idea, every dream I’m chasing.

This feature isn’t the finish line. It’s another page in the story I’m writing with intention, faith, and a whole lot of heart.

Food is more than what’s on the plate; it’s the memories we create, the stories we share, and the love we pour into every dish. ❤️🍽️ There’s something special about bringing people together through food, creating a space where everyone feels welcomed, seen, and connected. For me, cooking has always been about more than feeding people. It’s about honoring my roots, celebrating my culture, preserving traditions, and creating new memories around the table.

Because sometimes, the most meaningful moments in life happen over a good meal, surrounded by good people and even better conversations. 🥹✨

When visited the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in D.C., and one of the spaces that stayed with me was Sweet Home Café, dedicated to the history and culture of African American foodways.

As a chef and collector of cookbooks by Black chefs, culinary artists, and food makers, I’m reminded that these books are more than recipes.... they are history, culture, memory, and legacy.

And then there was Edna Lewis.

For those who may not know her, let me educate you. ❤️

Edna Lewis was a chef, author, teacher, and culinary storyteller who helped preserve and celebrate the richness of Black Southern foodways.

What makes her story even more personal to me? My great-grandmother's name was Edna, too.

Maybe that's why her work feels so familiar.

Food isn't just what we eat.
It is who we are, where we come from, and the stories we carry forward.

Sometimes, a recipe is carrying an entire generation inside of it. 🤎

✨ A moment worth celebrating. ✨

I’m incredibly grateful to share that I’ve been featured in a publication that tells a little more of my story—the woman, chef, creator, and dreamer behind Chef Asia B and Grandma Edna’s.

There have been so many chapters in this journey. The late nights, the uncertainty, the lessons, the pivots, the prayers, and the moments when I had to remind myself why I started in the first place.

What began with a little girl who loved being in the kitchen has grown into a life rooted in food, storytelling, creativity, and purpose. And I’m still writing the story.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, believed in me, shared a table with me, and watched this journey unfold. 🤎

The story continues… and I’m just getting started.
