Busy day. Rainy day. Still working.

One thing I’ve learned building Chef Jamal’s Kitchen is that you’re not always going to have the perfect conditions.

Sometimes the money tight.
Sometimes you’re tired.
Sometimes you’re trying to figure out 10 things at once.

But you still gotta show up.

A few months ago, I knew I couldn’t fix everything at once. So instead of quitting because everything wasn’t perfect, I kept cooking, kept serving my clients, kept creating, and kept building.

Now some of those pieces are finally starting to come together. 🙏🏾

Still got work to do. Still got moves to make. But we’re moving.

Good food, a room full of people, laughter, conversation, and everybody enjoying the moment. 🔥

People see the finished plates, but they don’t always see everything that happens before the event — the shopping, prepping, loading up, cooking, setting up, serving and making sure everything comes together.

But when I get to look around the room and see people eating, smiling and enjoying themselves, it makes all that work worth it.

🦀🍤 CRAB CAKE… ON A SHRIMP SKEWER?!

Yeah… I really did it 😂🔥

I took seasoned jumbo shrimp, put them on skewers, then covered them with a lump crab cake mixture and baked everything together until that crab cake got golden on top.

I didn’t know exactly how this one was going to turn out when I started… but THAT FIRST BITE?! 😮‍💨🔥

Some weeks I’m cooking over 100 meals. Some days I’m editing a YouTube video for hours. Other days I’m working on paperwork, planning the next move, figuring out a better kitchen setup, or just trying to become better than I was yesterday.

It doesn’t always look exciting from the outside.

But every little piece matters.

🦀🍤 I might’ve did something with this one… 😂🔥

I had shrimp. I had some lump crab meat. And instead of making the same old thing, I started thinking…

“What if I put a whole CRAB CAKE on top of a shrimp skewer?” 👀

The original plan was to cook these outside, but the rain had other plans. So we adjusted and kept cooking. That’s chef life. 😂👨🏾‍🍳
