✨the making✨

I have danced with so many words to try and perfectly capture the experience that is this sip…
this eye-popping, lip-smacking, head-cocking, lively, fizzy, bright, vibrant, and beautifully unique sip…
but alas, the word I keep landing on is..

✨EXPERIENCE✨

Because that is exactly what this sip is.
The palate experiencing something it never has before. The combined powers of flavors that spark emotion, curiosity, and intense intrigue.

It may still be February, but this transportive sip took me right to summer sunshine☀️

This beautiful dish is inspired by the classic 𝑻𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒊 𝒆𝒏 𝑩𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒐 of Bologna💛

𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑭𝑰𝑳𝑳𝑰𝑵𝑮:

Ricotta
Fresh Parm
Aged White Cheddar

So simple. So good. Measurements are TT (to taste👌🏼)

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑷𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒂:

1 cup @mulinocaputo Fioreglut
2 eggs

From your well, whisk those eggs to marry yolk and white, pulling in flour bits at a time JUST until you have a somewhat formed glob that you can work with by hand. It will not take all the flour. Too much flour will leave you with dry dough. Too much kneading is unnecessary. This pasta is soft, golden, and indistinguishably gluten-free👌🏼 I rolled it out by hand.

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒐𝒕𝒉:

6 ingredients.
That’s it.

Quality ingredients equate to fewer ingredients, as well as a deeper care and connection, and you can taste it😌

The final dish was intoxicating.
I cleared my kitchen, pulled my stool into the sunlight and sat quietly, soaking in the golden rays with each golden bite✨The flavorful healing broth warmed me all the way through, and the delightful al dente bite of cheesy pasta was pure toothy satisfaction. Every sip, every bite..produced an involuntary smile 😌

I used what I had on hand to create this love-filled dish. A traditional Tortellini en Brodo would feature, well, tortellini, but also a meaty filling that represents the Emilia-Romagne region. It is important to understand, appreciate, and respect the culture behind a dish, and to not misrepresent tradition❤️

4 c @petes.extraordinary.granola Lemon & Cacao Granola
1/2 c peanut butter
1/2 c local honey 🍯 (@live.grow.give.ohms 💛)
A generous yet ladylike handful of mini chocolate chips to keep me docile😌

Honey + nut butter : warm ‘em
Granola + mini chocolate chips: mix ‘em

Combine parties; get down (mix together)💃🏻🕺🏻
They’re one now.

8x8 pan. Parchment makes it convenient.
To the fridge so everyone can chill, and solidify in their holy union. 4 hours should do it.
Cut into bars.
Nomnomnom, or wrap individually and store in the fridge for later nomnomnoms.

Yield: 8 bars

BIG WEEK🎉

Don’t miss the Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra’s season premier concert BROADWAY TO BIG SCREEN this Saturday at @ivcceagles 🎻 Red Carpet opens at 3:15p. Concert Preview with our Conductor, Benjamin Klemme, at 3:30. Concert starts at 4pm🥁

The final farm-to-table event featuring @countrykidsfarmmarket and Chef FitzYourPalate Catering is happening this Thursday at 6pm, and it’s gonna bring all the delicious cozy fall vibes. Hope to see you there!👩🏻‍🍳
