i’ve been looking for this picture all day…oh, the 90s. nothing screams a proper birthday in your mid twenties like celebrating with your top gals and best gays at jumbo’s, of course. back when pottery barn was a thing and you could still smoke in bars and a lady of a certain age on stage, um…performed to this song with her whole heart. the surprise at the end was the aforementioned gents in my bday crew erupting into thunderous appreciative applause, like proper gentlemen…damn, it was like yesterday, and i can see doug’s side eye, and his big, beautiful smile. i might not remember how i got home…or if i still have that pottery barn gift. but…i will never forget that birthday, and the loved ones who are no longer with us. so thankful for our time with you, huggus. Oh, Rose! 7 years….i am so full of gratitude for having such an amazing mom. Rose was at her best when she was with “her people”…children, rugrats, but…those Sicilians? her family? it was everything. she often laughed, occasionally cried, but was always 100% in her element with her OG tribe. This is one of my favorite pictures- sharing a real laugh with her sister andrea…who is likely saying some version of “shut up, rosalie!” to her older sister….
she taught us, through thick and thin, that family is, well…family. and when you leave the nest and gather your own chosen tribe, its important to be grateful…i thank you every day for that. oh, and i miss you and i love you so damn much and nobody folded fitted sheets like you…EVER! ❤️❤️❤️ by @chefwizzy
