This October at The Nickel Cinema... Our new DIRTY COPS season opens fire with NIGHT OF THE JUGGLER, FEAR OVER THE CITY, REPORT TO THE COMMISSIONER, BAD LIEUTENANT, SHAKEDOWN, THE MAD BOMBER and CHAMPAGNE AND BULLETS - seven visions of corruption, brutality and cops operating far outside the rulebook. VIDEOHELL continues its excavation of video-born outsider cinema with CLUB LINGERIE, BLONDE DEATH, FINAL FLESH, BLACK DEVIL DOLL FROM HELL, BLOODY MUSCLE BODY BUILDER IN HELL and REFLECTIONS OF EVIL. Our EROTIC THRILLERS season gets even more dangerous with BASIC INSTINCT, BITTER MOON, THE BEDROOM WINDOW and another undisclosed MYSTERY EROTIC THRILLER. Japanese cult cinema runs wild with a FEMALE CONVICT SCORPION double feature, SHOGUN ASSASSIN, BRANDED TO KILL, TOKYO DRIFTER, VIOLENCE VOYAGER, HIRUKO, TETSUO: THE IRON MAN and IN THE REALM OF THE SENSES. And as Halloween approaches: PHENOMENA, EYES OF FIRE, THE WICKER MAN, EYES OF FIRE, FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN in 3D, THE DRILLER KILLER, THE BABY, BABY BLOOD, ERASERHEAD on 16mm, SPIDER BABY and MS.45 - before our HALLOWEEN WEEKENDER unleashes eight mystery horror films across two days. DAWN OF THE DEAD George A. Romero’s classic sequel to Night of the Living Dead. Managed to pick up a copy of the 4K box set this weekend, and Saturday night was movie night. It’s a stunning scan of the original theatrical cut and I’m yet to watch the extended versions! @secondsightfilmsofficial really did this one justice. I created this little number from scratch earlier today. No AI used in any of the visuals or sound design, with the exception of Eleven Labs for the voiceover, which I used to give it that vintage read. PRESSURE Out in UK Cinemas Today. Filmed this 2 years ago 🤯 Stepped into the shoes of a 1940s Met assistant. One hell of a cast and crew. An intense 3 week shoot in the met office. ⛈️ Post audition, as part of pre production along with the main cast, we went through 1940s meteorology-style training session with one of Britain’s leading former weather specialists. THEY LIVE 🕶️ By @officialjohncarpenter Picked up the 4K UHD box set from @studiocanal @studiocanalclassics this weekend and thought I’d make a little animated tribute using the cover art. Took quite some time cutting all the separate layers! I chopped up the sound from the original 1988 theatrical trailer…which, if you haven’t seen it, is genuinely one of the best-cut trailers EVER. This film gets more profound with every passing year. One for the collection. 🕶️ by @chegartyworks
A weekend of punks, prophets, video-store ghosts, runaway teenagers and murderous lovers at The Nickel. SATURDAY 4PM — WISE BLOOD John Huston’s gloriously strange Southern Gothic tale of faith, frauds and furious disbelief. 6:30PM — JUBILEE Derek Jarman’s anarchic punk vision of a Britain collapsing into violence, spectacle and cultural chaos. SUNDAY 2PM — VIDEOHEAVEN Alex Ross Perry’s epic love letter to the video store, told entirely through its appearances across film and television. 5:40PM — TAKING OFF Miloš Forman’s funny, tender and beautifully observed portrait of parents, teenagers and the counterculture colliding. 8PM — THE HONEYMOON KILLERS One of the great American cult crime films: ugly, funny, horribly intimate and completely devoid of romantic glamour. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD George A. Romero’s genre-defying original. One of my desert-island films. I recently picked up the new 4K UHD Criterion release and, honestly, it’s perfect. @criterioncollection I’m having way too much fun making these little tributes, and this one was built entirely from scratch, making the individual elements from the Criterion artwork and bringing them to life through animation, movement, lighting and sound. 0% AI Most of the sound design is completely original, with the exception of the ending music and the television broadcasts/dialogue, which are taken from the film itself. THE FOG John Carpenter’s classic. @johncarpenterofficial I picked up a copy of the 4K UHD box set yesterday and watched it last night. It’s never been one of my favourites, but with each viewing I gain a fresh and deeper appreciation for it… so it’s slowly climbing the ranks. This 4K scan is flawless. Blown away by the quality. @studiocanal After how well my Dawn of the Dead clip was received, here’s my little tribute to The Fog. Created entirely from scratch. No AI used in any of the visuals or sound design, with the exception of ElevenLabs for the voiceover, which I used to give it that vintage read. ⚽️ MEET THE OWENS // Out today // Stream on Amazon Prime UK. Worked on this over the course of the summer. Composed lots of the music cue’s. by @chegartyworks
💡 Tonight I’m rolling Revenge of the Creature // 1955 // Castle Films The bulb is fitted, the projector is rolling, and we’re somehow back in 1955… As soon as that creature hit my wall. I was home. Always loved that creature from the black lagoon. 🎞️ weird fact: Clint Eastwood appears as an uncredited extra in Revenge of the Creature, playing a scientist. So… Revenge of the Creature. Castle Films. And on to the next one. The hunt continues. 🐊 #8mm #Horror #8mmprojector #CreatureFromTheBlackLagoon #revengofthecreature by @chegartyworks
Retirement. One of the many music cues I wrote and produced this summer for the brilliant new Prime series Meet the Owens, available tomorrow, 28th August on Amazon Prime. It was a real pleasure assisting the main composer on this one working from my home setup, setting up cue sheets, writing, recording, producing and mixing music across the series. This cue is particularly sparse and reflective. Really proud to have been part of it, and a huge thanks. 🎬 Meet the Owens — 28th August, Amazon Prime #MeetTheOwens #AmazonPrime #Composer #FilmMusic #TVMusic FilmScoring MusicProduction AcousticGuitar Banjo SoundDesign by @chegartyworks
