May Stack ✨

Thankyou for the tag! @megans.reading.room 🤍

My stack is literally just library books for this month! I took this photo for my story originally, but I decided to make it a grid post, hence why, it is such a simple photo.

~~~~~ Now, time to be vulnerable! 😅😮‍💨🤍
It’s no secret that I struggle with anxiety, honestly ever since I can remember. But looking back now, I can definitely say I experienced a lot of dismissiveness from people who perhaps didn’t fully understand anxiety, or how overwhelming it can feel.
I remember being in Year 2 and having a panic attack over some maths questions. A teaching assistant came over to comfort me, and I still remember the teacher saying, “leave her, she always does this.” It genuinely upsets me to think about it to this day; how a 7 year old was left alone whilst feeing overwhelmed. This wasn’t an isolated incident throughout my childhood in, and outside of education.
Even now, in adulthood, I still notice, and experience the lack of understanding from people who may not experience anxiety themselves, or know someone who does. I still struggle with anxiety and panic attacks, especially around unknown situations, or situations where I feel out of control. I know there will always be those comments like “just calm down” or “stop panicking”. I wish it was really that simple.
I think mental health awareness has improved so much over the years, which is amazing to see, but I also think there still needs to be more education and understanding around anxiety, panic attacks, and how differently they can affect people 🤍 by @chel.reads_
The Hanging Heart 🫦🥀✨
@evasimmonsbooks
@theauthor.agency
If Eva Simmons writes it, I’m reading it! Happy release day to this celestial, gothic romantasy 🤍
~~~~~~

The Hanging Heart feels like such a good recommendation for those readers who are just starting out with the fantasy genre, since the world building is immersive, yet easy to follow. I’m not new to fantasy but I still enjoyed it!

I love the way Eva Simmons writes the tension, banter and sizzling hot chemistry between her characters, and Elorie and Wilder are no exception! 🥵so if you’re looking for the most delicious slow burn, then look no further.

Empire of the Vampire Series Review ✨

“A life without books is a life not lived, Dior. There’s a magik like no other to be found in them. To open a book is to open a door - to another place, another time, another mind. And, usually, mademoiselle, it’s a mind far sharper than your own.”

I couldn’t write a review without including this quote, for obvious reasons! From book one, this series had such a grim appeal, in the best possible way. The world was expanded in a dark, intentional way that left me turning page after page.

Each bitter moment hit like an unrestrained gut punch, leaving you unquenched until the summit of the moment. The amount of emotions this series put me through is tremendous, making this series an outstanding read full of bloodthirsty moments and raw emotion.

~~~~~
This is the first set up book photo I’ve taken in what feels like such a long time! Whew, I didn’t realise how burnt out I’d got from everything. But honestly, I had fun with these photos!
#qotd how do you feel about books featuring vampires? Personally, I love them! 😍 by @chel.reads_
