Hospital hopping and fitted in a bit of the Lawrence Wilson Gallery talk too. He's a patient dog . I'm so glad Gulyi is in my life. Very day I have to remind him that ^his father was a dog, his mother was a dog and HE is a ... dog." But he doesn't believe me.

It was a privilege to be at the SONARR AWARDS Gala we were the only truely Indie production there.
I'm indigenous an in my late 60's I wrote Kutalaani-From the Stars and needed to make it audible so that Gerry (Nyiyaparli man) who is blind could hear his story from the Pilbara WA.
Simple goal? Not when you are a perfectionist. I went from author to producer, director, casting agent, permissions seeker, editor, narrator and spokes person for the Kutalaani Project and financier.
Dr Malcolm Mah musician and recording artist sat beside me for 360 hours editing, neither of us had ever done something like this before. For example we spent 45mins finding a mozzie with an Aussie accent.
Jane Dundas is our resident Neuro scientists, historical reseacher and logistics manager getting Gerry, Tibby and indigenous performers from Pilbara to come for recordings and doing all the wrangling with care agencies who didn't want Gerry and Tibby to speak in their own story. And she secured all indigenous permissions in writing.
She doesn't stop thinking about the Kutalaani Project.
Thanks to Gumula for their donation towards recording costs , they were a God send.
So we made it to the Gala, self funded and so happy to be amongst all the famous and big media players. Of course no one knew about us and our project but the do now.
Lets write the play and immersive audiovisual with Lucas Bowers and my son Oni Gates. Its not over till the fat lady sings ... i havent started yet.

Chaos! After the drug search at the airport for Gerry who's blind, his partner Tibby fell as we were getting on the plane and banged her head badlyon a metal pole. Thank you Virgin staff you were amazing. Tibby and Gerry were put off for a health check and then put on the next plane.
Gerry was abused by a couple and hit with a bag. He is such a gracious kind man. The staff were enraged on his behalf. Bless them.
A friend (Tracy ) gave us a nights accommodation. It was perfect.
Had a wonderful meal last night at the Crown Hotel and this morning an amazing breakfast at the Storehouse. Wow. Sydney food is good and cheap compared to Perth. $12 for the breakfast $5.50 coffee.

To go or not to go to the @sonarrau awards in Sydney next month. I have done so much work to get the book and audiobook Kutalaani-From the Stars and now i am thinking that maybe it is arrogant of me to want to go to the prize giving awards night when I will be blowing up my credit card to do it $1500 fares ,accommodation and tickets for the night. Feel overwhelmed. There is no money for winning the 2 sections i am a finalist in. Just paying to connect. What do you think?
