I’ve been to 5+ professional conferences as a college student—and I’ve paid $0 out of pocket. ✈️🎓

But these opportunities didn’t just fall into my lap.

I had to learn where to look, what organizations to follow, how to find opportunities, and how to put myself in rooms that could help me grow professionally.

As a senior Communication Arts student at Cheyney University, the nation’s first HBCU, I’m starting a new series called GET IN THE ROOM where I’ll be sharing the resources, organizations, conferences, networking tips, motivation, and lessons I’ve learned along the way.

I’m not gatekeeping the opportunities. 💼

If you’re a college student trying to build your network, gain experience, travel, and create opportunities for yourself—this series is for you.

🎥 Episode 1 coming next.

Save this + follow along.

Honors is hardly ever home, but we’re ALWAYS repping Cheyney University wherever we go! 💙🐺✨

A special thank you to Dr. Brandon Graham and the My HBCU Matters Foundation for hosting, sponsoring, and investing in our scholars. These are the experiences that prepare our students to walk into new rooms, build meaningful connections, take up space, and know they belong at every table.

We appreciate you for making room for our scholars! 👏🏽✨🚀💙

April 13, 2025 — a day I’ll never forget.
I am beyond blessed to now be a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, through the Delta Iota Chapter at Cheyney University!

Not only did I get to walk into this beautiful legacy, I was honored to lead Grace, and officially take my place as #10, Pink Trinity.

What makes this moment even more special? I now share this sisterhood with my two amazing sisters and my cousin, a proud member of Omega Omega Chapter, our sponsoring chapter.

To be surrounded by such powerful, uplifting women and to continue this legacy of service, strength, and sisterhood is a blessing I will hold close forever.

This is just the beginning.
