Best go today on Victorian Overmantel 7c+ / V10

First time ever touching the upper holds, I'm still in shock 😮 🤯

It's going for sure, watch out!!! 💪

What a beautiful experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I don't know why I did a sketchy hand foot match at the top though 😅 I seemed to just instinctively go into mantle mode haha. It was a mega foot so all good though, that's probably why I instinctively chose it.

The boulder is just beautifully majestic, epic and peaceful, I highly recommend 🤌

Whhhaaatttt!!! 😲😲😲 it went on the second go today 💪 although I was kind of sad it went so quick because now it's over 😅

I padded the 2 moves that felt most risky to me and just went with confidence for the rest.

I also decided not to tape my finger as the split had healed ever so slightly but knew I had to send in as few attempts as possible because of that razor crimp towards the start. It only took the two goes for my finger to re-split 😂 well worth it! It can be my little parting gift 😁

Thanks to everyone who has messaged me along to way as I've been sharing my projecting videos, the hype was real 🙌🫶

I'll share the unedited send video on my stories and save to the 'crotale' story highlight, along with all the projecting videos.

Projecting Victorian Overmantel 7c+ / V10

After the the breakthrough I had the day before, I thought I had unlocked the mantle. But today after having a couple of not so good goes, I had to walk through the motion of the heel again.

After doing this... I had my best go yet!!

E Honda 7B / V8 ✅ - 5th August 2026

I don’t want this to be a story about strength or overcoming grief. It isn’t.

It’s simply the story of what I did on the worst day of my life.

There’s no lesson to take away from this. Nothing to be inspired by. It’s just what happened.

Because I don’t want to turn losing Luke into something that needed to happen for me to learn, grow or become stronger.

There is nothing about losing Luke that I needed.

Nothing that makes it worthwhile.

I simply loved him.

And now he’s gone.

I don’t know why I felt such an overwhelming need to run to the Welsh hills that day and climb. I just knew I had to.

I don’t know why I decided to film it either. But I’m glad I did.

Until today, I’d never watched any of the footage I took that day.

I knew how emotionally devastating those hours had been. I knew how much raw pain The Gop had witnessed. And I wasn’t sure I ever wanted to see it again.

Until today.

Watching it back, I can still remember exactly what I was carrying.

I can see myself climbing.

But I remember everything that was happening between those attempts.

The crying. The screaming. The pain. The disbelief. The anger.

And through every moment of it, the unbearable knowledge that another one of my brothers was gone.

It’s heartbreaking to revisit that day. To see myself climbing while knowing what was happening inside me. To remember how desperately I wished none of it was real.

But I’m glad I preserved it.

It was a send day. It was a tragic day. It was a day I want to forget, but want to hold on to.

For you, Luke. 💙 by @chelmurph

Event Horizon (7b/V8) ✅

I was very lucky to have the full squad with me that day @fyfeeboywonder @naomi.moyson @thealifraser @vanehartmann @stephpedroclimbs and @ravendarque 💪

Extra thank you to @naomi.moyson who spent time brushing all the holds and getting the fan on it before my send go 🫶

The second move is pretty hard and whilst I had already made two betas work for it, I settled for a third beta which was to cut loose on some ratty crimps and throw a heel up. Missing the heel the first time was a pain but I made it work 😁

🇬🇧 « I found my own beta at the start by using a small, and very sharp, unused crimp. I was worried about the reach with the right hand after mantling up but I was able to shift my body weight enough to get it. I could only reach the lower part of the hold which isn’t as good as the higher part, but it was enough to pull on. I love traversing, crimps and mantles and this line had all 3, which made it a dream line for me. »

Not every story has a happy ending BUT it can still be a great story.

This was exactly that.

I found it hard to accept the loss of this one which I've not experienced before. Typically I can walk away happy from a boulder, knowing I gave it my all. I don't know why this one was different. Maybe it's because I thought I sent it.

Now that I've had time to digest it, I realised it was actually the perfect way to end my Font trip... leaving everything I had there. Literally blood, sweat and tears went into this. I didn't have much to begin with tbh, after 7 consecutive days on rock.

I walked back to my van shaking almost. Putting up the window covers in my van took the last of my energy.

Recovery has already started. Left shoulder is feeling not great so I'm taking rare rest days, flappers are healing, muscles are starting to ease, tips are still a bit worn down. But it's my feet that are the worst, especially my left foot. I think it'll be quite a while before I can get climbing shoes on my feet to climb indoors 😅

Now that I've shifted my mindset away from heartbreak. I'm psyched to get back on this next time... I clearly have the energy to go from the start to that big move a billion times. So I can practice similar moves to it in the meantime.

Until next time Magic Bus... round 2 coming soon.

Can't believe it 🥹 I started lower and climbed into the start holds because I couldn't reach the start 😂

I don't know how it went from feeling hopeless to sending it 🤯

I did make 1 small change today which was the placement of my left toe. Previously, when switching from heel to toe, I'd try and place my toe in the small divet my heel was in but would always come sliding off.

Today, I tried not to move the foot and instead just shifted the weight from the heel to the toe, smearing the rock... and put all my trust in the friction.

I'm so psyched right now, what a win!! 🙌

I done it 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

This was an epic slab problem 🤌 you can always tell when I love a climb because I'll film all the angles out of pure appreciation.

I loved it the day it was set and then avoided it like the plague in case I couldn't do it haha. Does anyone else get that? Like you love a climb, you think you can maybe do the climb... but then you don't do the climb because you fear doing the climb 😅

I think it's due a reset in a couple weeks so the last couple of sessions I've pushed myself to give it some effort because I'd be sad if I hadn't have given it my all.

I'm so happy 😁
