Watch me crash! lollll We got some good snow this week and that means I got to ride steeper lines, faster. Riding fast down steep stuff inevitably means I also crash harder 🙄 Watch till the end for a perfectly executed powder roll 🙃

Well, I finally swallowed my fear and joined one of the @shreditsisters x @shejumps downhill mountain bike meetups at @stevenspass . Although I’m on a hardtail and not a full suspension bike, it was still great! I def understand why people shell out the cash for a full suspension now, though.

If you are wondering if you’re ready to try downhill, here’s what prepared me as a TOTAL beginner mountain biker:

- I first took a beginner’s class though @sweetlines . This gave me a LOT of insight into what gear I need a and helped introduce me to one of the local mountain bike parks (@duthie_hill_mtb_park) Note- these parks aren’t the same as riding downhill at the ski resort but should be your first step.

-After taking a class, I joined a couple @evergreen_crank_sisters group rides at another local mountain bike park, Swan Creek, and also rode a few times at Swan Creek and Duthie with pals. These rides helped me build my cross country mountain biking confidence and gave me a chance to practice riding blue and black rated runs at these parks and being comfortable doing sections downhill stuff.

-Once I was comfortable on the black runs at Swan Creek and the blue runs at Duthie, I felt ready to try downhill at the ski resort. I made sure my bike was up to speed by taking it to a shop and doing some routine maintenance, made sure I had a full face helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads, and the signed up for the Shred-It Sisters meetup.

-I chose the Stevens Pass meetup because the easiest runs there are a little more mellow than the easiest runs at the Summit at Snoqualmie resort park. I am SO glad I took those advice because the green run at Stevens was, in my opinion, a little more steep and intense than the black runs I have been doing at the local parks. Being comfortable on those runs set me up for success to take this next step.

Was it scary? Yes. Lol… but, was I prepared to do it? Also yes!!!

If you have been on the fence about if you are ready for your first downhill experience, this is how I got prepared. I HIGHLY recommend joining the upcoming Shred-it Sisters x SheJumps meetup at Stevens! Visit the @shreditsisters link in the bio there to register! taken in Stevens Pass by @chelseahashope

Pics from @bethanyneuman ‘s going away party (she’s moved to Sacramento!) and a quick turn and burn to Portland, OR this past July to test out traveling and sleeping in my camper for the first time. I opted to do it in my friend Margo’s driveway in case something went wrong (it didn’t 😎) - woo!!
Every time I visit portland I wish I could stay… forever? I miss living there but at least its just a couple hours away!
See yall next time 💕 by @chelseahashope

For my 10 year divorce-iversary, I did what any sane 41 year old divorcée would do and took a long weekend trip to Oregon to surf with a bunch of pals. As usual, my wonderful friends, along with the incredible ocean wilderness, reminded me about how charmed my life truly is. Remembering how lovely my life is often ends up also reminding me of how horrifically BAD it was when I was married to my ex. So, listen up my loves:

If you are in a relationship of any kind with someone who disrespects you, doesn’t do their part, and/or makes you feel like you aren’t free to live your best life, please let this be your sign to be brave and end it. The hurricane of hurt and pain you will likely have to go through to get free is difficult, yes, but LET ME TELL YOU HOW SIGNIFICANTLY WORTH IT GETTING DIVORCED HAS BEEN FOR ME. The benefits to all parts of my life outweigh the difficulties of divorce like 100 to 1. We only have one life to live- it is my hope for anyone reading this that they choose a life of mutual respect, loving kindness, and healthy relationships … ESPECIALLY when it comes to your marriage. There is hope and health and healing and true freedom and goodness on the other side!

The pics are from my 10 Year Divorce-iversary trip surfing Otter Rock, hanging at the beach with some wonderful pals, and playing catch with my darling boyfriend of four years at some of the most beautiful beaches in Oregon! Tyler, who has never said a mean thing to me even once in the entire time I’ve known him, has shown me how incredibly easy it can be to be in a healthy relationship when your partner is responsible and always working on their own life, self, and goals. Thank you Tyler for being such an example to me of what a healthy person acts like in a loving relationship! @theyliveweshred

I am so so blessed to have such life-giving relationships in my life. 💙💙

I am also sooooo glad I’ve learned to end the bad, disrespectful, and dangerous ones.

Here’s to a decade of being divorced- The healthiest decision I’ve ever made! 🥂

xox
PS- if you’re still reading this: I caught the biggest most epic wave of my life so far while on this trip!!!! I’m so excited about it lololol by @chelseahashope
