Two years ago, I almost canceled.

Hurricane Beryl had just hit Houston. I had been without power for 10 days. My home was damaged. My grandparents’ roof had caved in. There was so much happening that I thought, maybe I should just do this another time.

Then, about 12 hours before my first scheduled recordings, the power came back on.

I was still about to send the cancellation emails.

Instead, I recorded 7 people that first day.

Two years later… 200+ episodes. 10+ publications. Countless conversations and stories.

And the funny thing is, podcasting has become the most natural thing I do in my business. I don't have to force it. I don't have to pretend to be someone I'm not. I simply sit down, press record, and have a conversation.

What started during one of the most chaotic weeks of my life became something I’m incredibly proud of.

Sometimes, you don't need perfect circumstances.

Sometimes you just need to keep the appointment.

Happy 2nd Anniversary to Her Voice Shines Podcast & HBCU Her Voice. ❤️

We’re just getting started. by @chenadrawashington_

Here is the beautiful piece created by Authority Magazine. Full read in the comments. This has been such a year of change, uncertainty, stretching, and rebuilding behind the scenes. There have been moments where I questioned a lot, but one thing I’ve continued to hold onto is giving what I have to give (whether it feels big or small) and giving it with excellence, heart, and intention. Faith. Connection. Consistence. by @chenadrawashington_

"You are a creative. Period." 🙏🏾Some times I struggle to sit in the reality of people saying that. I've always been slightly partial to those in arts and science. Thank you Iris and many of my guests that not only share freely but also speak light over my gifts. by @chenadrawashington_

Hundreds of gators. The bridges are low and some parts wobbly. It was interesting. Full drop later. 🐊 🐊 🐊 by @chenadrawashington_

If “now you see me, now you don’t” was a person, it would be me. 😂
Sometimes I’m everywhere, sometimes I’m nowhere, and both are intentional. by @chenadrawashington_

2 years ago today. So timely because I've been doing customer feedback over the last week. It's more than just printed material, it's the experience of someone standing in their story. This was the first one I ever published. I too was in a scary time of starting something new ❤️ Thanks for this. God ALWAYS gives me nuggets through my very own memories. by @chenadrawashington_
