On Saturday I went on an adventure with Melissa Dunn and Julie Fishman to the Everglades 😬😬😬. As nervous as I was about encountering an alligator I did it anyway. Riding in the wind and feeling the breeze touching my face was priceless.

The beauty and serenity of it all captivated every inch of my soul.

My most important take away was the ecosystem and how all these microorganisms work together. It was interesting to learn that even the fires in the Everglades are important and is needed for the survival of certain plants and wild life.

As I walked through the wetlands I thought about God and how amazing he is...

The Cypress trees that can be seen in the pictures below often appear dead but it’s full of life. It was a constant reminder to me that sometimes we will walk through unsure seasons in our lives, some of which may seem dead, dry and desolate to the eyes but in the spiritual realm it’s not .....because God is giving you life even during those times.

It was definitely not something I would have chosen to do on my own but I felt the fear and did it anyway and in the midst of that I was Cherishing My Soul!

I can’t wait to see what these ladies have planned next. Have a great week guys 😍😍😍

Last year was a bit rough on all of us. All the social unrest, Corona, and everything else in between.

This year I promised myself that I would write more.. read more ...go to the beach more ... hustle more, laugh a little more ... dance more... sing more .. cook more ... create more ...enjoy life more.. pray more and be more PRESENT. 🥰😍🎊

I started off my year at the beach with the love of my life.. you guessed it my son. There is something about the ocean that is calming to my soul. It’s like I get to experience God through nature.

This year I truly want to CHERISH MY SOUL 😍😍 and in doing so I will be saying NO more often so I can say YES to the things I am truly passionate about. Life is too short to do anything else.

What are some of the things you want to do more of? by @cherishhersoul

There were days when I simply forgot to cherish my soul, only to have those days turn into months and then years. I am not really sure when or how it happened, it just did. It might have been in the midst of becoming a mother or maybe it occurred in one of the busiest seasons of my life when I was going to school, working, volunteering and simply just trying to figure life out. While I can't explain when or how it happened. I just know it did!
My failure to care for the most innate part of my being left me in an emotional storm I was not prepared or equipped to handle. I was constantly battling the fears and anxieties that filled my mind. Sleep became my source of comfort. Sometimes God will bring you to the lowest point in your life in order to fix your broken pieces. There were things that God wanted me to do that I couldn't or better yet I wouldn't do because my fears wouldn't let me. During one of the most difficult times in my life …I decided to take baby steps to confront my fears. In the beginning, my steps consisted of working on my inner self. I thought if I could put those pieces back together everything would start to fall into place and I was right. Those baby steps allowed me to slowly release the things I needed to and little by little my fears no longer dictated what I should and shouldn't do. Facing my fears allowed me to travel, forgive people that broke my heart and in doing so it freed me in so many ways I can’t begin to explain.
It is important to note that some fears keep us safe… and is necessary for our survival while others cripple and paralyze us. It steals our dreams. I often find comfort in reading the bible. It is my safe place… It has been my sanctuary. There are so many things to be fearful about in the world today. I want to leave you with a verse… Isaiah 41:10 - Fear thou not; for I [am] with thee: be not dismayed; for I [am] thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
Be safe!
