In my first essay I asked why we got the machines right and everything else so wrong. In this essay I begin to answer it: we used the correct physics for the machines, and then applied it, without modification, to everything else. Including us.

This is Essay Two of an ongoing research series applying thermodynamic principles to civilization — the physics of how systems live, and how they die.

Squeezing every drop out of Summer because for me, there’s no better way to honor the season of the sun.

I feel like the exploration of an idea is more important than its rightness. Every new idea is a new world that you escape into, a new reality that opens up a new branch of possibilities into the Markov chain of your life.

I’m still buzzing from the energy of EVIO’s inaugural event. —— It’s one thing to work on next-gen aircraft, but it’s another to step back and see it all come to life.

Our team showcased a full-scale mockup of our nacelle, which houses the battery packs and hybrid-electric propulsion system, along with a flight simulator and an immersive cabin VR experience.

We were joined by investors, partners, and fellow innovators who are dedicated to sustainable aircraft design. —— Because if it’s not sustainable, why are we doing it?

I also had the honor of interviewing our department heads about the technology behind our program and the values that drive us. So stay tuned … there’s lots more to come from EVIO.

Grand Prix du Canada ✨ Last year it was champagne at the Ritz and nights that blurred together. This year there’s a red carpet in the mix — but the real work is what you won’t see. Sometimes it’s definitely hard to stay locked into what I feel is the most important use of my gifts, and at the same time, be present and be free. Sometimes I’m stuck halfway between legacy and liminality — am I my most grounded self, or a fairy in a meadow?

But then I allow myself to be led and I can see the path merges those worlds, so that my joy becomes foundational to my purpose.

What we’re divinely crafted for should also be what brings us the most joy and peace.

It felt like I came all the way here to meet Spring for her arrival in the east. A few trees here and there, starting to bloom so pink. Rainy nights in Tokyo lights. And finally here — nestled in the mountains, within the ancient ritual of the ryokan. A quiet proof that coherence with nature is still possible.
