This was so much fun to create with my precious friends! A log of our process 🖍️:

Non of the food on set was made to be edible! (Cheeky) all were frozen but dressed and styled with condiments to appear cooked.

Learnt that the trick to smooth, non sticky, mouldable and ‘on set approved’ tang yuan dough is lard. (rendered pork fat) Rendered lard from frying bacon, mixed and kneaded glutinous rice flour with hot water, kneaded in lard and voila! Dough was premade the day before and kept tightly wrapped in cling wrap in the fridge to preserve moisture and prevent drying or cracking.

Ginger syrup was simmered with brown rock sugar and ginger root to achieve a golden brown colour. Premade and kept in airtight container.

Sausages were thawed and cut into slices, dressed with sesame oil, soy sauce, garnished with chopped cilantro

Dimsum, dumplings were frozen to keep holding their best shape without having cook them and risk breakage/ waste time.

Fried rice balls were frozen as frying takes a long time. Soy sauce and sesame oil was brushed on to hide its paleness, sesame seeds for garnish.

All plated, arranged and styled with ceramic dishes and appropriate utensils like chopsticks and small soup spoons. by @cheryllsuminteriors
