Every single day at dusk, 100s of birds fly home to roost upon the mangroves along the shores and small islands in Biscayne bay in Miami ‘s palmetto bay neighborhood. This helicopter just seemed wrong to fly so low at this time & so close to these birds as the sun was setting and the moon was rising by their nesting grounds …
(This happened by the Peoples Dock and adjacent to the Deering Estate) Ibises, crows, egrets, pelicans, herons and more call this location home.

Some of my photo musing while on a road trip to the Florida keys. It’s wonderful how even a short trip from miami to just go enjoy nature and the small local treasures of the keys is invigorating and healing. If you go to Key West, take a trip to Fort Jefferson. You can only get there by boat or plane, because it’s in the Dry Tortugas but it’s worth a visit! It’s full of history and wonder surrounded by the turquoise waters of the dry Tortugas.
