🗂️ E43 pt. I: Nestled on Beatties Ford Road in West Charlotte, Archive CLT stands tall as a pillar of Black culture and history. From politicians and celebrities to aunties and old heads, Archive has something tasty and unique for everyone.

Owner and Curator Cheryse Terry recounts how she turned an idea into reality over three years ago. With help from Tony Santoro (Enderly Coffee Co.), Justin Hazelton (Lorem Ipsum Listening Bar), Kenya Argurson, and countless other supporters across the U.S., Cheryse channeled her love of ephemera and all things vintage into a third space that she calls “The People’s Cafe.”

🔔 Check back for PART TWO as we dive deeper into who inspired Cheryse and what parts of her archive she values most.

🎵 And don’t forget to check out our event at Archive on Saturday, April 4th. Details in bio. taken in Beatties Ford Rd by @cheryseterry

🧭 E43 pt. III: West Charlotte is home to countless small businesses and some of the best food in the city. From Mama Gee’s to Angie’s Diner to Archive CLT, one of Charlotte’s most historic districts is often overlooked due to people’s ignorance about the neighborhoods.

In our final episode with Cheryse Terry, she dives deep into her collections to highlight some of her grails as well as dispel some of the preconceived notions about the West Side. Stop by any of the thriving businesses and see for yourself.

Also…

🔔 THIS SATURDAY, come to Tumble Dry at Archive CLT: a showcase of some of Charlotte’s finest vinyl DJs with drinks, vibes, and more.

Wow @queencitynerve cover!! What a honor! This interview felt so different @ryanpitkin was so much different than previous interviewers, when he referred to my mom he called her by her name “Miss Yvonne.” I’m used to just hearing simply and plainly “your mom.” It’s hard to express your love and passion for a loved one who has transitioned especially in the eyes of people who didn’t know her so to name her did it for me. I also had an opportunity to talk about motherhood without the typical sensationalization of me having experienced being a teen mom. It was so beautiful. I’m always elated and ready to nerd out about my growing collection and jump any chance to do so. @ryanpitkin thank you for being a voice for us and Grant, thank you for documenting the images so beautifully! I’m grateful to have been invited to do a feature, even more grateful to have been surprised to know it was for the cover. by @cheryseterry

I’m always grateful for the opportunity to feel like a real hometown hero especially by my home team @hornetsgive @hornets .. I was blessed to be featured in the Charlotte Hornets and Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC “Vanguards of Change” series, recognizing Black change makers who are actively shaping the history of Charlotte today. I jump at the chance to share my vision for @archive_clt and Archive Historic Preservation Society 5013c. It was amazing to be interviewed by my girl @ohaviaphillips who has supported me for a long time and sit alongside two giants @tchernaviam + @lou.krom and hear about the work they are doing. @teenibee @mikejonesnc thank you for championing me … @teenibee thank you for literally holding my hands while my nerves do the running man lol. Thank you to my friends and family for showing up for me and thank you to the Hornets for the community work you are actively and wholeheartedly doing. by @cheryseterry
