It was a very difficult year for me and I’m very happy and relieved to finish it with a great result. I’d like to thank @fide_chess , and the local organisers for hospitality, wonderful playing conditions and the significant prize fund of the world rapid and blitz championships 2023.

This world blitz silver is my first personal individual medal representing Switzerland and I’m happy that I managed to do so already in my first year playing under the Swiss flag 🇨🇭. At this point of my career such results are the best motivation for me to keep going despite difficulties and occasional failures.

🎄Closing the year 2023, I do hope to see in 2024 less conflicts, tragedies and disasters 🙏🏻 All the best to all of you! May your year be fullfilled with warmth, happiness and smiles. Be happy and play chess ☺️

Did you know there’s a street in @villeasnieres named after me? ☺️♟️ taken in Asnières-sur-Seine by @chessqueen

Already as a child, I often spent my Sundays playing in team tournaments. I look back on those matches with nostalgia: deserted streets of Moscow on Sunday mornings, the empty metro, meeting at the ´Izmailovsky Park’ station by the first carriage heading towards the city centre, and travelling all the way across Moscow to take on the city’s central chess clubs. The teams had eight boys and two girls. I was around 10-12 years old, but already an important member of my team. In those days, very few girls played chess, so having a strong female player on the team was invaluable…

How many years have passed since then? More than 30?

And yet, chess weekends are still a big part of my life.

The alarm goes off at 6 a.m. There’s a flight or a train to catch to make it to Saturday’s round, followed by an early start on Sunday and a journey home. Monday is my real day off - a chance to recover from an intense weekend and analyse the games I played.

The 2025/2026 season was a fantastic one for me and my teams - three team titles! 🏆 🏆🏆 My teams - Victoria Linz won the Austrian @austrian.chess.federation and @monacochessclub - the French Women’s Team Championship, and this weekend after a long 10-years break @sgzuerich is back to the top of the @swisschessfederation team championship.

My individual results in these events were also pretty good 😊

But in sport, there’s rarely time to rest on your laurels. I’ll be kicking off a new season in November! 🍁

Will the 2026/2027 season be just as successful for my teams? ♟️👏🏻🤞🏻 taken in Geneva, Switzerland by @chessqueen

♟️ TCK, but make it 80s! 📼✨
Same squad, different era. The retro trend just got a little more King-sized. 👑💗
