These are some clips from a role I played in #emmerdale this year, along with clips from the audition tape I submitted to book the job.
I’d love to share some pearls of knowledge that have helped me over the years

* Costume: wherever possible, dress like the character you’re trying to portray. It helps the director/casting director see you in the role more clearly

* A Reader: as much as I personally hate to admit it, it’s really important to have a reader for scenes that require you to engage with another character. The casting director isn’t just watching you act, they’re watching you REact.

* Background: As you can see from this tape, I don’t have a plain background for my tape. If you have access to one, great! But if you don’t, make the best with what you have. Keep it presentable and then make sure that performance is so good they don’t notice your partners name tag in the back 😅

* Present a whole Character: go over that script again and again, as well as studying the character breakdown as much as you can. You want to give the director a sense that they really won’t have to do much once you get on set.

* Follow the instructions & be Punctual: You’ll be given instructions on exactly how to film and submit your tape- PLEASE follow them to the letter. And overall, do everything in your power to get that tape in before the deadline. If you can’t, let your agent/agency know with plenty of warning.

Good luck x
