🇨🇳🍜 London Hidden Eats: Episode 17 This is the ultimate hiding spot from London’s wintery chill! We visited @chew.fun in Shoreditch/Liverpool Street and had the best time eating A1 Chinese rice noodles. They’re one of the earliest spots in London to offer rice noodles, and have been around serving up fire flavours for a long time. This longevity is testament to the food and vibes on offer here - warm hearty bowls of rice noodles served with a selection of delicious broths and topped with your selection of beef, chicken or duck. What more do you need on a cold winter day? The vibes inside are also immaculate, it’s a very cosy spot that just enhances that feeling of warmth when it’s cold outside. The sides were also A1, from a really delicious cucumber salad, to teriyaki chicken and even quail egg and fried tofu! There really is something on the menu for everyone! And to wash these flavours down are some really top notch drinks, from a sour plum drink that we can’t stop thinking about to Wangzai Milk which is a must try and akin to evaporated milk! It's International Noodle Day. Where can you go for customisable noodles? Cooked the way you like it. Near Spitalfields Market, Chew Fun lets you choose your choice of noodles, choice of meat, pick the flavours, sauces, and toppings, and create your own bowl. The side plates are seriously generous. Perfect for sharing, (or… not sharing) 🤭 Food is excellent and flavours are superb. We absolutely recommend it. 😋 The best part? 쇼디치에 이런 맛도리가 있었다니...🍜 Spitalfields에 있는 Chew Fun은 중국 남부 구이린(Guilin) 스타일 쌀국수를 중심으로 하는 중국 음식점이에요. 구이린 쌀국수는 아침·점심·저녁으로 즐겨 먹는 중국 남부의 대표적인 면 요리 중 하나인데, Chew Fun에서는 쌀국수에 다양한 고기 토핑과 소스, 육수를 조합해서 먹을 수 있어요. 특히 소고기 양·사태·양지(?) 같은 다양한 부위를 골라 넣을 수 있는 게 이곳 쌀국수의 재미! 🍜 Triple Beef Rice Noodles
소고기 세 가지 부위를 한 그릇에 담은 메뉴!
저는 Rice Noodle로 골랐는데, 여기서는 쌀국수뿐 아니라 밀가루 면이나 고구마 당면으로도 선택할 수 있어요. 특히 고구마 당면은 고구마 맛이 강하다기보다는 고소하고 살짝 달면서 쫀득한 식감이 특징이라고 해요. 
그리고 칠리오일이나 참깨 소스 등을 추가해서 취향대로 매콤하게 먹을 수도 있어요. 🦆 Roast Duck with Plum Sauce Rice
오리 자체도 맛있지만 이 메뉴의 포인트는 같이 나오는 달달한 플럼 소스!
오리의 고소하고 기름진 맛에 달콤한 소스가 더해져서 밸런스가 좋고, 밥이랑 같이 먹기에도 잘 어울리는 조합이었어요. 🥒 Thai Pickled Cucumbers
기름진 메인 메뉴 사이에서 같이 먹기 좋았던 사이드.
피쉬소스와 고추가 들어가서 새콤하면서 매콤하고 짭짤한 맛이라 중간중간 하나씩 집어먹기 좋아요. 개인적으로 오리랑 같이 주문하는 거 추천! 🥚 Marinated Quail Eggs & Fried Bean Curd
메인 메뉴만 먹기 아쉬워서 추가한 사이드.
양념한 메추리알과 튀긴 두부가 함께 나와서 여러 메뉴 시켜놓고 나눠 먹기 좋았어요. 🍠 Deep Fried Taro Cake with Milk Honey Sauce
마지막은 타로 튀김으로 마무리!
겉은 바삭하고 안쪽은 부드러운 타로의 고소한 맛에 밀크 허니 소스의 달달함이 더해져서 디저트처럼 먹기 좋았어요.
저는 먹자마자 고구마튀김이랑 델리만쥬 중간 어딘가의 맛이라고 느꼈는데ㅋㅋ 이건 진짜 한 번 먹어보세요. 그리고 Chew Fun은 2019년에 시작해서 팬데믹 당시 현지 중국인 커뮤니티를 중심으로 알려지기 시작했고, 지금은 Spitalfields에서 다양한 사람들이 찾는 중국 음식점으로 자리 잡았다고 해요. 공식적으로도 핸드메이드 누들과 중국식 요리를 중심으로 소개하고 있어요 현재 평점 4.78⭐️인 곳이라 쇼디치에서 뻔한 음식 말고 조금 색다른 중국 음식을 먹어보고 싶을 때 저장해두기 좋은 곳! 📍 Chew Fun
