The #crossfit box was my refuge and means of keeping physically and mentally fit for years. Met some incredible people who are still friends to this day. When the pandemic hit, that community for me evaporated. Recently started back up and realized how much I missed being around like minded folks getting a good sweat on. As I get older, being able to move with strength is crucial and an ability not to be taken for granted. Use it or lose it. #getsome 👊🏼 taken in Orange County, California by @chewy_ge

Fortunate to have got in 4 days of skiing with decent snow considering the dry season we had in the West 🇺🇸. #spring #time #ski #bluebird #wristcheck ⛷️🎿⏳ taken in Chair 14: Mammoth Mountain by @chewy_ge

11,053’ 🚩 18 runs (would have been 20 if they didn’t close the top due to 60 mph gusts); 17,916 vertical feet skied; 36.33 miles distance skied (@strava ). Finally got to drop into Cornice after the wind gusts subsided 🤙🏼 The new gear🎿 is shaking out nicely. #bluebird #spring #ski #ride taken in Cornice Bowl - Mammoth Mountain by @chewy_ge

Unapologetically American 🇺🇸 For nearly 30 years I worked in a profession that had a lot to say about the 2A and guns in this country, usually after another horrific mass shooting. The narrative that we (I guess it’s “they” now 🙃) and others in the mainstream news media “reported” always relied on the same dog whistle terms: more “common sense” gun laws; ban “assault rifles” (the number of times I had to inform my colleagues that AR did not stand for Assault Rifle or that a 30-round “clip” didn’t exist was mind numbing); ban “high capacity” magazines, etc. etc. without delving into WHY these shootings were happening in the first place (newsflash: it ain’t about the gun). The very people who were supposed to be informing and educating the public about this issue were oftentimes the least qualified to do so while the very organizations that were supposed to be objectively reporting facts were instead advancing their own political agendas. Gun owners were vilified as “gun nuts” when one of the very pillars that this country was built on was the right to bear arms. Now that I have been unplugged from the news Matrix, I can tell you that I’ve spent much time in places where people have been disarmed or had no means to defend themselves with horrific consequences. Our Founding Fathers created the 2A with this in mind. Now having said all this, I believe gun ownership is a serious responsibility. Just owning a firearm doesn’t make one a safe and proficient shooter- just go to a public shooting range and you’ll see what I mean 🤦🏻‍♂️. Gun owners should all seek regular training with competent professional instructors. And yes-some folks really should not be allowed to own a gun. But the usual “ban guns” and “more laws” political/media mantra isn’t the answer ✌🏼. taken in Arizona, USA by @chewy_ge
