💌 To those asking (and I’ve not gotten a chance to get back to)… ✨ Greece was an unforgettable trip with my bestie, but on day 8, it wasn’t all freddo espressos & feta. On the cobblestone streets of Mykonos (in chunky heels 👠 we all know I’m a stiletto girl), I took a little fall. 💥 My ankle literally detached from my leg in a triple fracture. And here’s the kicker → Greece 🇬🇷 would not let me fly home without having surgery there. I even called the U.S. Consulate 🇺🇸 begging to be allowed back to the States for proper care, but they said no. A bit hypocritical, don’t you think? Fast forward → public ER in Mykonos, then flown to Athens for surgery in a Private Greek Hospital (where AC was apparently optional 🥵). ✈️ Back to the States, my surgeon looked at me and said, “your ankle is f*cked.” 😳 The bones and screws hadn’t been placed correctly. My fibula, inner ankle bone, and joint were all misaligned, meaning I’d never walk normally again, or at all. ⚠️ Dr. Eaton’s recommendation: a revision surgery. Riskier, harder, and carrying the possibility of infection, poor healing, hardware failure, multiple surgeries, or long-term stiffness. 🔪 Six days after the first surgery, I was back under, this time to fix what 🇬🇷 f*cked up. 📸 Image 1: 🇬🇷 Surgery → fibula disconnected, pins poking out 😬 📸 Image 2: 🇺🇸 Surgery → clean, neat, properly aligned ✅ ⏳ 10 weeks non–weight bearing, then straight into PT bootcamp… but the goal? Back in stilettos by my 44th birthday 🥂💃🏻🪩 taken in Mykonos, Greece by @chica.of.steele
