Antic’s one year celebration is ending at The Listening Club, but the party will start at @gramaphonerecords for four more hours of music. In the afternoon hours leading up to the night party, Antic will be back in the booth at Gramaphone Records for some daytime party action. This time, we are excited to welcome @jcaiado for a taste of the night to follow and a crossover with the global powerhouse: @carpetandsnares out of Lisbon. Admission is free and all DJs will be playing Gramaphone store stock exclusively. Meaning all records we play will be available for purchase. It’s hard to believe a year has past.

Over the past year, Antic has taken pride in creating communal spaces for everyone to enjoy music and express themselves freely. We are so thankful for everyone who has been a part of this and we are looking forward to continuing. 🖤

To mark the celebration of our one year anniversary, we are extremely excited to welcome a lineup of heavy hitters into the booth on October 10th. We are pleased to welcome Carpet & Snares/Inner Balance boss @jcaiado back to Chicago from Lisbon. Mentored by Chez Damier, with 20 years of experience in the underground and global scenes. He will be joined by local staple of the Chicago underground @sassmooth. Antic residents @nate.thompson3 and @qtc_chicago will be kicking us off.

An introduction to Jorge Caiado…

Jorge Caiado is a DJ and producer with 20 years of experience, having released his first record in 2012 under the mentorship of house legend Chez Damier on Chicago’s Balance Recordings. A graduate in Sound Engineering and an alumnus of the international Red Bull Music Academy, Jorge combines technical expertise with natural talent and a deep passion for electronic music.

He quickly established himself as one of Portugal’s top DJs, regularly performing at the best clubs and festivals in the country, as well as internationally at venues like Berghain/Panorama Bar, Tresor or Heidegluehen in Berlin, Smartbar in Chicago, Eden in Ibiza and Vent in Tokyo, to name a few. His influence extends beyond the DJ booth. As the label manager for Groovement for many years - one of Portugal’s most established labels over the last two decades - he also runs Inner Balance and has been the driving force behind Carpet & Snares Records in Lisbon since 2014.

In addition to running @carpetandsnares record shop for the past decade, Jorge has developed several valuable tools for the Portuguese music community, such as a distribution service for labels, extensive catalogs, providing a platform for countless artists, mixing and mastering services as well as simply mentorship to newcomers. Since 2018, he has also been sharing the music that inspires him through his weekly show, Uma Espécie de Azul, on Radio Oxigénio 102.6fm.

Jorge’s contributions to the Portuguese electronic music movement are undeniable, and his efforts to develop and shape the scene from various angles are highly regarded. For all these reasons, he has become a key figure in the underground community, whether in the studio, on the airwaves, in the record shop, or at the club. His dedication to music and the scene is relentless and unquestionable.

An introduction to Sassmouth…

Sassmouth’s route to Midwest started in the Pacific Northwest, before a stop in the Bay Area for a couple years, and ultimately landing in Chicago in 2000, where she began refocusing on electronic music after involvement in other musical scenes. As she settled in Chicago (and for a while, London), she built momentum through DJing clubs, underground events, and festivals. Through this, she held residencies in Chicago (Smartbar), San Francisco (As You Like It) and Santiago (La Feria), started her label god particle, and worked with Walking and Falling: a DJ mentorship program focusing on Women and Non-Binary DJs.

Sassmouth is both a legend and a friend in Chicago. Through her years of DJing internationally, residencies and releases, Sassmouth has demonstrated her ability to make amazing art time and time again. However, while this is undeniable, most who meet Sassmouth remember her kindness and care. Sam has matched her strength as an artist with her strength as a human and caring community member. We are proud that such a remarkable and amazing person will be performing at our Antic one year anniversary celebration. Antic Mix Series: Mix 009

Next up, we are excited to welcome Double Dipp to the series ahead of his forthcoming vinyl-only release on New York based label @minimalbk.

Chicago-based Double Dipp has been DJ-ing, producing, and throwing events since 2019. Pulling from Chicago’s rich house music history, complemented by the modern influence of today’s dance music landscape, Double Dipp has developed a taste for minimal, deep tech, house classics, hypnotic techno, garage and drum ‘n’ bass.

Chicago’s vast soundscape has allowed for an identity that can fit an assortment of bars, clubs, and after-hours events, all while representing a sound that is distinctly true to oneself. A Double Dipp set will stray just far enough from where it started to inspire, and just focused enough to never let the dance floor miss a beat.

Rise and grind! Antic is back on the books and in full force. On September 18th, we are hosting our first residents’ night at the Chicago Instituation that is @lemon_chicago. Come join Nate T and QTC for an extended four-hour B2B, and celebration of QTC making another trip around the sun.

For this night at Lemon, entry fee is a suggested donation of $10 dollars. All donations and ticket purchases going directly towards our booking calendar for the course of the next year, as we are looking forward to expanding Antic and hosting the most incredible selectors and musicians from around the globe in Chicago.

We are proud of the fact that we have been able to construct intimate and curated parties at many of our favorite institutions across Chicago. We cannot wait to continue this. Thank you for being the crowd that makes this happen; You all are awesome.

Antic Mix Series: Mix 008

Next up in the Antic mix series we are excited to feature a live recording from our summer dub party from good friend of Antic @cortexbrane. We met Antron in the summer of 2025 in Chicago while he was visiting, sharing the weekend with him both at TLC and at Queen! at Smartbar. Since then, Antron has remained a friend of Antic in a symbiotic relationship spanning from Chicago to New York and beyond. After connecting and bonding over shared passions and interests that weekend and in the time following, it only made sense for us to bring Antron back to share some music in Chicago for us.

Antron’s selections range from techno and house to ambient, and his passion for the scene and dance music can be felt through his mix. Follow him out to stay up to up to date with cool happenings in NYC and beyond, and check out his weekly radio show on @8ballradio.

Antic Mix Series: Mix 007

Next up in the mix series, we are pleased to welcome Midwest scene stalwart Moorhaus for some deep chunes.

Moorhaus is a Milwaukee-based DJ and student of the dance floor, shaped by years spent moving through clubs, warehouses, and festivals at the core of the Midwest underground. Guided by an obsessive curiosity and a deep love for music, his sets connect unexpected corners of dance music, weaving together overlooked classics, modern deep cuts, stripped-back minimal, acid, electro, and leftfield discoveries through a shared sense of mood and feeling.

Known for his patient approach and wide-ranging taste, Moorhaus builds long-form journeys that favor tension, texture, and emotion over immediate release. Whether opening a room, closing into the early morning, or settling into an all-night session, his focus remains the same: serving the dance floor first and trusting the music to tell the story.

Next up in our introduction to the faces behind the Antics: QTC. Besides being a friendly and familiar face in the Chicago music scene and behind the desk at Gramaphone Records, Conrad (QTC) is the other half of the Antic operation.

A conversation with Conrad:

1. What influences your track selection? Sounds mainly. Sometimes mouthfeel.

2. Why do you play records over other forms of media? It just more fun and more gratifying to play with an unstable medium. It gives much more risk, but in turn more reward when things go right, or you fix things when they’re going wrong.

3. Who is an artist you’re keeping an eye on? So many. In order to slim it down, I’m not choosing any artist who has played an Antic Party or provided us a mix. If we booked em, our eye is on em. Same goes for Gramaphone’s current staff + alum.

FUJ @lordfudge is an Artist consistently doing interesting things, and playing amazing music. If FUJ is playing, I want to be there. While he is far from new, he has consistently shown that ignoring him is a mistake.

4. What is a record we can expect in your bag at the next Antic? A1000 by Googoosh Dolls @googooshdolls. No idea how im fitting it in a minimal set. Positive i will fit it in because its so damn good. Likely playing “Ajab” but the whole thing bangs.

There is no better way to spend your Saturday afternoon than listing to rumbling, rhythmic and spaced-out sounds with your friends. Which is why you should join us on June 13th from 1pm to 9pm at The Listening Club for the Antic dubbed out day party! We're bring out two heavy hitters this time around, Antron from NYC and IT-XPO, who moved back to Chicago from NYC just to play this party. Whether you're coming in to continue your Friday night fun or start your Saturday shenanigans early, this party is where it is at. We hope to see you there.

IT-XPO: formerly NYC based musician, now Chicago

A New York native rooted in the American techno spirit, Antron builds sets and productions around emotion, intensity, and flow. He is the organizer behind the event series and label Terroir Recordings focusing on personality-driven electronic music.
As a vinyl DJ his dance sets feature cerebral techno & house mixed at a fast pace while his ambient selections have made him a regular at deep listening spaces across NYC. He has played at Bossa, Light Sound Design, Silence Please, The Lot Radio, Dover Street Market, and 8 Ball Radio, where he has hosted his show Basal Rate since 2022.
He has delivered cult mixes for outlets ranging from modern midwest label Fixed Rhythms to the Plovistan collective in Central Asia, while his productions have seen support from Kush Jones, Rose Kourts, and DVS1.

After an amazing in store at @gramaphonerecords , we thought it was fitting for the next mix to be from Tony G, local wax dealer and previous Antic guest. This is the perfect mix to prepare for the next Cruise Control, a party Tony G coparents at TLC. This Saturday after Antic, M50 takes the Cruise Control reigns all night long. Tony G is a music lover and disc jockey based in Chicago. Born and raised in Rochester, NY, he found the dancefloor in New York City in the early oughts, co-founding underground label and party machine Sorry Records and cutting his teeth DJing around the city before moving to Chicago in 2023. His enthusiasm for physical media and customer service led him to a job at Gramaphone Records shortly upon landing in the city. Tony is known for his omnivorous selections and big hearted blends, and promises to always keep you guessing while he’s at the controls.
