We created new relationships, strengthened old ones, celebrated our creative community, and showed what’s possible when we work together.A special thank you to our incredible sponsors, whose support helped provide team jerseys and made this event possible.This is exactly what the Chicago Indie Film Collective was created to do: build opportunities, create connections, and bring our film community together beyond the set.The 1st Annual Softball Classic is officially in the books, but this is only the beginning. Coaching the Show Runners in the 1st Annual Chicago Indie Film Softball Classic was something I’ll never forget. Seeing filmmakers, actors, writers, directors, producers, crew members, families, friends and creatives from all across Chicago come together for one day of competition, laughs, networking, and community was everything I hoped it would be.Thank you to every player, coach, sponsor, volunteer, supporter, and everyone who came out and made this event special. You proved that when Chicago’s independent film community comes together, we’re capable of building something bigger than ourselves.I’m proud to have been a coach, but even more proud to be a part of this growing movement.The first year set the bar high… and I can’t wait to see what next year brings. ⚾🎬 BlackSallie Experience Review: Who would’ve thought a softball game would turn into one of the best networking events of the summer?The 1st Annual Chicago Indie Filmmaker Softball Classic was so much more than a softball game. It was a celebration of Chicago’s independent film community. I had an absolute blast meeting new people, making meaningful connections, and seeing faces I’ve admired on my TV screen finally come to life.As someone who’s passionate about storytelling and building my career in the entertainment industry, this event reminded me why I keep showing up. I had the opportunity to meet directors, producers, writers, actors, and filmmakers whose work I truly respect. Every conversation was inspiring, and every handshake felt like another step toward the future I’m working so hard to build.One of the biggest highlights of my day was having @bodealbsm as my coach. What an honor. He was an incredible leader who brought great energy, encouragement, and teamwork to the field. You can tell he genuinely pours into people, and I’m grateful I had the chance to learn from him, even if it was just for a day.I also had the pleasure of meeting Director @directorwillgates @whois_bo . If you haven’t already, mark your calendars because their film The Preacher’s Truth premieres on August 2. Chicago, let’s support our own. Grab your tickets before they sell out!What I loved most wasn’t just the networking. It was seeing families, kids, filmmakers, and creatives all coming together in one place. The atmosphere was full of laughter, competition, encouragement, and genuine community. It didn’t matter if you were an actor, producer, PA, writer, or director. Everyone was welcomed like family.I walked away with new connections, new opportunities, and even more motivation to continue representing BlackSallie and the BlackSallie Experience in Chicago’s film industry.A huge thank you to the @chicagoindiefilmcollective , the sponsors, volunteers, organizers, coaches, and every single person who made this event happen.
