Recently, we refreshed the grapevine on a cedar rail fence used for photos by our customers and photographers. On some weekends in November, a number of photographers offer photo sessions on the farm. If you are interested in finding a photographer for a mini session, send me a DM.

On National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we would like to highlight the award winning, Indigenous owned business, Under The Stump. If you are ever visiting Gros Morne National Park NL, do not miss out on a tour with Trina Reid, in Rocky Harbour. We learned so much about the history, culture, flora and fauna of the area. The Lunch on the Barrens tour was filled with beautiful views, information, stories, and delicious food. Joe was pretty happy to be the first person to get an antler designed Under the Stump souvenir T-shirt .

It is so hard to capture all of the wonderful sights and memorable experiences from our trip down east, in one reel. But here she goes!

🌲It all started with the Canadian Christmas Tree Association meetings in Bridgewater, NS. We learned so much and enjoyed spending time with others in the industry who share our love for the real tree tradition.
🌲Then it was off to Newfoundland for our first time. We had a delicious lunch (moose soup and blueberry pie) with old friends.
🌲Hiked and camped in Gros Morne, went on the Western Brook Pond boat trip and had an amazing 4x4 tour with indigenous owned, Under the Stump, out of Rocky Harbour
🌲Caribou in Port au Choix ❤️❤️, and well worth the trek to L'anse aux Meadows
🌲Our last night ended in true NL fashion with a kitchen party, at our B&B. Our hosts were so warm and welcoming. It felt like we were visiting old friends.

Happy long weekend! What a weather change!!🫠 We picked cones off the trees this weekend. We remove them so that the energy goes into developing the new growth (branches) instead of the cones. Within a few short weeks in Spring, the forest floor turns to green from brown, before the maples crowd the crown. Spring ephemerals pop up in early spring and quickly go through their life cycle, before the deciduous trees block out the light for the understory plants.
This is a favourite time for walks around here; a forest bursting with life and colour, warm afternoon sunshine and no mosquitoes!🌸
