On another conservation journey 🐛🧡✨

Monarchs are miraculous and I hope more people will plant native milkweed to help them out. 🤍🤍🤍

(Huge thanks to my husband who is always down for my antics and built me this custom monarch house 🥰)

My first festival!! 🌞🌳🎨🦋✨

I have always wanted to have a tent at a local art/handmade festival, and now I can cross that off my list! 📝☺️

This was an experience!!! I won’t rattle off a long list of all the stressors involved in pulling this together, but I will say I learned a lot. (Also, I could not have done this without the help from my mom! 🩷)

I overheard a little girl saying my charm necklaces were “pure magic” and that made my day! 😅🦄💓✨

I’ll add all my new items to my Etsy shop this week- handmade velvet hair bows, keychains, birdhouses, earrings, and charm necklaces. 🥰

Back to school isn’t just for the kids this year!! 🎨🌈🐦✨

I’ve been running my own illustration business for 14 years, and I’ve been blessed to be able to do so with our kids at home. I didn’t have to send them to daycare a single day, which was something I have always wanted for us. Over the past few years, as this chapter with kids at home began wrapping up, I started praying God would use my art and creativity to glorify Him. Without knowing where that would lead, I just kept trying new creative mediums (clay, paint, airbrush, epoxy, calligraphy, jewelry making), and praying. A few years of uncertainty passed by, and I wondered if my prayers were even being heard.

Then a job position popped up in my social media feed, in a field I had never considered- teaching pre-k through 8th grade art at a faith based school, AND I GOT THE JOB!! 🥳✨ To make this even more special- I start on the exact same day our daughter starts kindergarten. My impatience in prayer was actually God’s impeccably perfect timing. ❤️😭

My hope for this chapter is that I can point these kids to The Creator by helping them observe His perfect, colorful, and detailed designs- in us, in animals, in plants, in all His creation. 💗

My classroom was a labor of love this summer. I’ll share a tour soon. Also, for anyone wondering I’ll still be running Chicks n Hens with my own personal art and creations. Thanks for following me on my next chapter of life! ☺️

✨🎨 Whimsical Art Studio Tour 🎨✨

It’s been a long time since I’ve shared my favorite space- my art studio! I have been working on some small changes in my art studio and rearranging my supplies to better reflect what I’m working on in my creative life- fairytale jewelry! 🦋✨

I made my mom turn the car around halfway home from the antique store to get this mini apothecary cabinet. I painted it to match my cabinets and filled it with all my most used jewelry tools. I love it!! 🤗🩵

IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME. 🦋🪽🥛🌱

So many of you care about small creatures, like me, and I AM HERE FOR IT!! 🥹💓✨

Comment “BUTTERFLY” and I’ll send you the link to our monarch butterfly house plans. You can instantly download the plans and make your own butterfly house. 🐛🧡 Planting native milkweed is a great start. Having a safe enclosure helps the monarchs even more.

Worried invasive milkweed will take over your yard? Me too. That’s why you need this house. Plant your milkweed in a pot and move it into your new butterfly house AFTER the monarchs lay eggs and you have caterpillars. (They will find it, you don’t need to do anything besides water the milkweed and keep it out of the house until the cats hatch.)

I’m planning a huge expansion of our butterfly garden next year, and a second butterfly house. Follow along! 👆🏻

Every year I put on a “Halloween Feast” for my family. It’s one of my favorite traditions. 🌚🖤🦢✨

See a butterfly, learn a butterfly- I have MANY butterflies to learn about and share. 🤍😉🪽✨

Cabbage whites are one of my favorites. They’re common, and I think that’s great. The more butterflies I see, the better! 👍🏻

Time to change out my art class bulletin board from summer to fall. I have several bulletin boards to keep up on in the school. This one is right outside my class door, and I decided to change it seasonally with something creative that has to do with our faith. I’m lucky to be at a school that wants me to share my faith with these kids. 😊🍂🎨🍁✨ My bulletin board designs are made almost exclusively with paper, and I try to find materials I already have. I made each of these leaves by hand with paper, and the Luna moth is paper mache. 😉

Some of the charm necklaces I have been working on in my personal art studio for the fall season. 🌈🍂✨

In addition to being an art teacher, I do have plans to do more shows in the future with my own art pieces. I’m constantly creating art for future shows, and my Etsy when I have time in my own art studio. Some of these charm necklaces have coordinating handmade earrings I’ll share soon, as well. 🤍🎨✨

You can always DM me if you see a charm necklace not listed in my Etsy. I generally have the pieces for multiple charm necklaces for everything I create.
