What’s your favourite @authorelsiesilver book? It’s a hard one I won’t lie. My favourite book depends on the day I’m having. Today, it’s Reckless. Yesterday, it was Wild Eyes. One thing’s certain though, I’ll never get over Theo, West, or Daddy Cade 🫠 I still need to read Gold Rush Ranch (don’t judge me, ok?!) 🤭

This week, I finished Wild Card, the final book in the Rose Hill series. Firstly, Clyde was the best part of the entire book and I’d give my left arm for a couple lil’ novellas for Harvey and Clyde, they’d be fuuuun. But, my goodness, I LOVED Gwen. She was giving me Willa vibes, big time - strong, fierce women are my weakness. I was chomping at the bit for these tropes, ex boyfriends dad, forbidden romance, age gap.. YES!!! I’d love to see Elsie do a little more of this!! It was all push and pull.. should we / shouldn’t we.. but when than tension snapped.. ooooh boy 🙂‍↕️🧎🏼‍♀️ I was vibing. Bash is all sad, grumpy, misunderstood MAN and when he opened that mouth.. I folded like a lawn chair.

⛅️🌸💛 golden hour this morning got me all inspired to pull together a little sunrise inspired stack of books. It’s also giving spring vibes, which for us southern hemisphere pals is so, so close 👏🏻🕺🏼

Since I finished ToG I’ve been SO sad and slumpy 😫 I miss it so much. I’ve picked up a couple of things to try and read but nothing is holding my attention. I’m think Atmosphere by TJR might be the next book I give a nudge? What do you reckon?

🤙🏼🌩️💯💫 a book series I’m hung up on

You might have seen on my page recently, I’ve just done my third read of the Empyrean series, this time with the graphic audio. I had the BEST time. I already loved this series, but listening this way just turned a series I loved into a series that’s become part of my personality and lives rent free in my brain.

Happy Wednesday! I’m a little late with my weekly wrap but enjoy. My husband left for a two week trip last week so I’m officially living solo (it’s SO hard to cook for one person!!). But I have started a One Tree Hill rewatch. Nathan and Hayley forever ♾️ How’s your week going so far?

🐺 ONCE THERE WERE WOLVES by Charlotte McConaghy | 4⭐️
Charlotte McConaghy’s writing is honestly a thing of beauty. What an immersive, atmospheric, and haunting read. At its simplest it’s a book about wolves being brought back into the Scottish Highlands. But it’s also a complex story of human nature and when livelihood, loved ones, and land is at risk what lengths people will go to try and save it.

🌌 INTO THE FADING TWILIGHT by Catherine Cowles
I’m not sold on the love story orrrr Phoenix as a nickname 👀🥲 but I’m enjoying the mystery!

👻 FREE FALLING by Lyla Sage
I’ve been hanging out for this one! I’m enjoying it so far and intrigued to see where it goes.

It all started because a girl decided to go hunting in the woods. And now we’re here and I’ve finished the Maasverse.

What a ride! I TRIED (😩) to do a ranking but it was so freaking hard. So here are top two books:

🔥 HOUSE OF FLAME AND SHADOW by SJM | 3.5⭐️
I feel underwhelmed. Specifically by the ending, that was it? After all that? I enjoyed the plot overall and it definitely kept me hooked, especially that final third. But that ending was so predictable, I don’t know what I had hoped for but… meh. What I loved about this was Lidia motherfkn Cervos. What a BADASS!! Her and Ruhn absolutely saved this book for me. As did the ACOTAR crossover. I think what also lost me in this book was Bryce. She turned into such a self absorbed, arrogant, pick me and I did not appreciate the way she treated Hunt. Speaking of, I unfortunately got the ick from her and Hunt 😂 I think Crescent City is generally good and this book wrapped it all up well but I don’t know if I’d reread this series. But, I liked the little move into the multiverse and now I’m jazzed af for the next ACOTAR book.

🏒 CROSS CHECK by Chelsea Curto | 2.5⭐️
I’ll start by saying I did read this almost 800 page book over a weekend so I definitely had a good time. But, there is no need for this book to be so damn long. It needed a serious edit. It was repetitive and I found myself seeing a lot of errors and I started to get a bit bored, especially by the text messages. At about 60% I found it became a bit performative and inauthentic or like a Ted talk; they just didn’t really seem like real people and we tipped from corny into majorly cringe. But, overall I loved the idea of the book and their relationship spanning so many years, I enjoyed parts of the slow burn, and the found family in this world is actually just the best, but I fear this just didn’t hit the same for me as the other books in this series.

🔥 HOUSE OF FLAME AND SHADOW by SJM
This is my last read of the entire SJM universe. I LOVE Agent Daybright && Night 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨 I will admit, I’m struggling a bit with Bryce and don’t get me started on the Ithan storyline 😂 But I can totally see why this is a must read before the new ACOTAR books come out.

Very intrigued by this one, equal parts excited and terrified for this story.

Really easy listening! I’m so sad this is my last trip to Silver Pines

🐴 WHISTLER by Ann Patchett | 3.5 ⭐️
One of the loveliest, most pointless books I’ve ever read.

🛞 LUNA & THE LIE by Mariana Zapata | 3.5⭐️
I LOVED the story and the classic MZ slow burn. I mean, they weren’t even friends until 60% through 😂 my issue was the internal monologue was repetitive, wordy, and took me out of the story multiple times. I really, really loved the ending though 🥹

🪏 HARVEST SEASON by Brynne Weaver | 3⭐️
The audiobook was excellent but the story was underwhelming and predictable compared to the first book which was such a banger. I’m disappointed Harper’s intelligence was sacrificed so this could be a trilogy, it should have been a duet, we didn’t need this filler.
