Twelve months.
Three hundred and sixty-five days.
Approximately 8,760 hours since your soul was called Home.

From that moment on, time has been divided into two parts:
before this… and after this.

Everyone who loved you, every friend whose life you touched, and even the strangers who shared a fleeting moment with you now carry a before and an after—all because of you.

What a beautiful testament to the life you lived.

A glorious hallelujah, that we were all blessed to know, love, and be forever changed by such a beautiful soul. by @chickswithchips

As I mentioned in previous post, it’s the little things that turn into the big things that mean the most

Like the family photo shoot—where almost every picture felt perfect. Those memories are even more precious now.

Forcing ourselves out on crisp winter walks… even though I think none of us really loved those long winters.

Our self-employed/unemployed Christmas parties for four—so random, so weird 😊

Spending time in the garage doing random crafts, signing the back of projects with all our names… something that means more with every passing year.

Making the decision about seven years ago to move to the South Okanagan—a choice none of us ever regretted. It truly is a spectacular place to live.

I’m not really into “heavenly birthdays”… please don’t come at me, people—I don’t judge anyone who posts them 😊 It’s just not usually my thing.
But today felt different. Maybe I don’t have all the closure I need. It still feels like just yesterday we celebrated your last birthday… and only a few short months later, we were holding your hand as you took some of your final breaths. I will forever be grateful to your family and Teddy for allowing us to share that time. It wasn’t planned… it barely happened… but the universe had its say.

This might sound strange to some, but dying and death don’t scare me. Maybe I’ve seen it too many times… or maybe it’s the vulnerability in those moments—the way it makes you feel everything, and hold onto what truly matters. It reminds you that life is precious. I try to live that way every day—sometimes failing miserably, but always trying to do better with the next day I’m given.

Life can feel cruel when it takes the people we love too soon. But the truth is, from the moment we enter this world, none of us are promised time.

Tamara,

I know your birthday was yesterday, but in my defense, I was busy obsessively going through every post you ever made on social media—yes, all 2,600 on Facebook too:)

A couple of times my scrolling got monotonous, I lost my place, and stubbornly went back to the top to start again… LOL. I could hear you saying, “OK Laurie, you’ve done this long enough—let our OCD rest.” Mental health was important to both of us, and I’ll always appreciate our honest conversations.

I don’t really know why I felt the need to scroll today, but it was so good to see all your smiling photos. You truly had the best smile—and those beautiful blue eyes. It reminded me of everything you loved: dogs, children, sunrises, rainbows, sunsets… and the importance of mental health.
I remember so clearly the first day Teddy introduced me to you (about 14 years ago). It was brief and random, but I was struck by two things. First, your positive “light energy”—it was so refreshing. But more importantly, I saw something had changed in Teddy… something I hadn’t felt before (and yes, I told him right away). I knew from that first day you would be an incredibly important part of his life—and the lives of those he loved.

What I’ve learned is that soul connections don’t always make sense. You can be different ages, have completely different life stories, and be learning different lessons—but somehow it works. You might see each other often, or rarely. It’s more about how it feels… calm, safe, and real. The kind of connection where you can have truly vulnerable conversations.

I think the four of us knew we had a lot in common—but also embraced our differences.
Terry and I are forever grateful for the time we had with you, where the little things became big things… by @chickswithchips

Vietnam … Beautiful things you showed me:) No matter how far you travel, your energy & everything you are passionate about will be there waiting for you. The only thing better than giving yourself grace to grow, is to watch that energy transfer to others. Sometimes what looks like chaos is actually the opposite, there’s a natural flow & calmness below. Nothing lasts forever… change is inevitable, with the rapid growth of this city over the past few yrs it will undoubtably see the dark side of things as well …. Luckily Vietnam isn’t for everyone I am grateful for that 😉 Countdown… 10 months & 2 weeks we will be back … by @chickswithchips
