For years, I told myself I’d start living after I lost weight.

I’d wear the outfit later.
Take the trip later.
Take pictures later.
Date later.
Join a gym later.
Feel confident later.

Somewhere along the way I realized I was postponing my own life.

So I stopped waiting.

This is the first post in a series called Don’t Wait, about all the ways we convince ourselves that life begins after the next milestone.

Because the truth is…

You only get one life.

So start living right now!!

Get in, we’re reclaiming all things that don’t actually honor *Us.* 🚙💨

The Assignment this Thanksgiving is to remind the world (and myself) that it’s always a good day to be Indigenous.

✊🏽🪶🐟

Which look is your favorite? Which would you wear?

PERSPECTIVES: The Indigenous fashion is transforming the fashion industry. What we wear tells the world who we are, where we come from and what we care about.

Native-owned businesses are growing at a faster rate than non-Indigenous businesses, supported by increased access to capital. The Native American Bank has made loans totaling $128 million to support $250 million in projects in Indian Country. As the worldwide fashion market projects to reach $1.18 trillion by 2029, Indigenous designers are leading reshaping conversations about authenticity, sustainability, and cultural ownership.

At this point, I’ve probably been to more concerts than dates. 😂 And you know what? I’m not mad at it.

I stopped waiting for someone to invite me, make the reservation, buy the tickets, plan the trip, or decide that something I wanted to do was worth doing.

If I want to see the artist, I buy the ticket.
If I want to try the restaurant, I make the reservation.
If I want to take the trip, I start planning it.

Your life doesn’t have to be on hold until someone else is ready to participate in it.

Do what YOU want to do. 🫶🏽

If someone wonderful comes along and wants to join you, beautiful! But you won’t be waiting, you’ll already be living.

Don’t wait. Just go. 💋

What’s something you’ve been waiting for someone else to do with you? And, more importantly, when are you going to finally do it??

🚨🔥𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐝𝐞: 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑳𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝑩𝒖𝒓𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 🔥🚨

In January 2025, wildfires ravaged the ancestral lands of the Tongva, Tataviam, Serrano, Kizh, and Chumash Peoples. While national media largely overlooked the impacts on our Indigenous relatives — how they were navigating and coping amid devastating flames — we knew their stories needed to be heard and shared.

We sent our teammate Francisco “Pancho” Sánchez (@videosdelsancho) to Tovangar to document this instance of catastrophic climate crisis from an Indigenous perspective. We are honored we be in conversation with:

🌿 Jessa Calderon (Chumash & Tongva), poet, musician & climate justice organizer. @jessa_songwriter1
💧 Jolie Varela (Tule River Yokuts & Nüümü), founder of Indigenous Women Hike. @jolievarela @indigenouswomenhike
🔥 Vinecea Edwards Esq (Mvskoke), Senior Director at Urban American Indian Involvement (UAII). @uaii_inc
🪶 Amy Stretten (Chickahominy), Director of Comms at UAII. @chiefofstyle
🌱 Alexia Palomino Cortez, fire survivor & PhD candidate
📚 Katherine Guerrero-Yañez, adopted Tongva Tribal member & high school teacher.

If settler-colonialism’s land mismanagement is the root of our current climate catastrophe, then the path forward is rooted in Indigenous land stewardship.

Because fire is our relative. Water is life. Earth is home. And relatives keep us safe.

Not to be dramatic, but switching to the Jolie shower head might be the quickest self-care hack ever. 🚿

It took me less than 2 minutes to get cleaner water and softer skin. No more breathing chlorine chemical steam. 🙅🏽‍♀️

Taking a shower finally feels like a spa day at home. 🌿🧖🏽‍♀️
