How many Igbo soups do you know—and how many can you actually prepare? 👀

Ofe Achara is a traditional Igbo soup especially associated with Abia State, although variations are enjoyed across neighbouring Igbo communities. It is commonly prepared with tender achara shoots and mgbam ahu—moulded egusi balls.

This Ofe Achara prepared by @amalizakitchen looks so good, and I cannot wait to try making it! I especially love that the preparation is explained in an Abia dialect—allowing us to experience both Igbo food and language together. I look forward to sharing more of their mouth-watering dishes with you.

Does your family or community prepare Ofe Achara and moulded egusi differently? What ingredients or techniques do you use? Let us know in the comments. 👇🏾

How did EngliIgbo become a thing? 🤣

I start the sentence in Igbo, English enters somewhere in the middle, then I return to Igbo at the end 😂

For many of us, mixing both languages has become so natural that we may not even realize how often we do it. Sometimes, the English word simply comes to mind first. Other times, we were never taught the Igbo alternative.

But EngliIgbo can become more Igbo—one word at a time.

That is why lessons like this matter. They help us rediscover the Igbo words we can use in everyday conversations and gradually build the confidence to speak more fully.

No shame. No pressure to be perfect. Just learning, practising and choosing a little more Igbo each time. 🤎

What English word always manages to enter your Igbo conversations? 😂

What if technology truly understand your Igbo? 👀

For asụsụ Igbo to remain a living language, it must exist not only in our homes, classrooms and cultural spaces—but also in the technology we use every day.

Speech recognition. Automatic captions. Translation. Transcription. These tools shape how we communicate, learn and access the digital world.

That is why the work of people like Chris Emezue—and initiatives such as #PutIgboInTech from @tokatahq —matters. An immersive Igbo future must include technology that can hear, understand and respond to us in our own language.

Which digital tool would you most love to see properly support Igbo: voice assistants, captions, translation or something else?

Someone said they loved Kasarachi… and the rest of us needed an explanation. 😂🍿
That was all it took for the review to get very interesting.
Here’s a little preview of our Kasarachi conversation before the full review drops soon.
Did you watch it? And more importantly… was it actually that good? 👀

This is what it means to live Igbo. ❤️

Children are not simply being taught words—they are playing, singing, laughing and building memories in Igbo.

When language becomes part of joy, friendship and everyday life, it stops feeling like another subject to study. It becomes something children can belong to.

This is the heart of Chịkọta Living: creating and curating opportunities to experience Igbo—not only through lessons, but through music, stories, food, play, community and real human connection.

Imagine regular Igbo playdates where children and their families can hear the language, practise without embarrassment and experience the culture together.

Would you attend an Igbo playdate like this? Tell us your city below—perhaps we can help make one happen. 👀

Why do Nollywood pregnancies ALWAYS start like this? 😂😂

The moment Amara fainted in IJU ESE, some of us already knew exactly what was coming. 😭

Fainting ✅
Vomiting ✅
Pregnancy test ❌😂

But seriously — can a Nigerian movie reveal pregnancy without somebody fainting or running to vomit?

IJU ESE gave us plenty to talk about, so we broke down the movie, the acting, the Igbo language and culture, the family drama… and a few things we definitely had questions about. 👀

Full IJU ESE review now on YouTube — TokataHQ. Link in bio.
