What’s one thing you’ve learned in your work with children? That’s the question we asked Paul Wanasi, program officer at our local partner organization Mbale Area Federation of Communities in Uganda. His answer will stick with us for a long time.

ChildFund’s programs are local by design. Most of our nearly 200 local partner organizations around the globe are staffed by people who grew up in the communities they serve—people who have lived experience with many of the challenges children in that particular community face. We can’t do anything we do without the wisdom of people like Paul, who make sure our programs are relevant and deeply impactful for children and families in his area.
