Today, we celebrate 25 years of the Children’s Harbor Family Center— a quarter of a century of walking alongside families facing a child’s serious illness and reminding them they never have to face it alone. 💙

What began through the partnership of Children’s Harbor, the Russell family, and Children’s of Alabama has become a place of comfort, connection, and care for thousands of families navigating life’s hardest moments.

For 25 years, the Harbor has helped families cope, adapt, and thrive by caring for the whole family — not just the diagnosis.

Today, we celebrate every family, staff member, and partner who has been part of this story and helped make this mission possible.

Because 25 years later, this work still changes lives.

Thought this year, we will be sharing more of our history and other ways we are celebrating this milestone. Stay tuned!

With the announcement of our capacity campaign, this issue shares how Children’s Harbor looks ahead while celebrating the people and partnerships that have brought us this far.

Inside, features the launch of Charting the Future: A Legacy of Care and Excellence, to expand our ability to serve more children with serious illnesses and their families.

You’ll also meet the generous supporters helping bring this vision to life, discover how we’re expanding mental health services into the community, and celebrate 10 years of our partnership with UAB Football through Champions for Our Children.

Supporting the whole family is the heart of what we do at Children's Harbor. 💙

Recently, our team had the opportunity to host a Sibshop where they learned about the unique experience siblings of individuals with special needs have, and how we can create spaces for them to connect and feel supported! Hear from two of our staff members as they reflect on the importance of supporting the siblings too:

"Being the sibling of a child with serious illnesses or disabilities comes with unique challenges, however it also comes with unique opportunities. Sibshops is a recreational program designed specifically with these children in mind to support and connect them to each other in a fun and engaging way. At Children's Harbor we focus on the how serious illnesses and disabilities affect the whole family and I think Sibshops will be a great way to continue our mission by focusing on the siblings of children with serious illnesses or disabilities," - Jenny Tudisco, Lead Counselor

"The annual symposium gives us an opportunity to spread the word about our services to professionals such as counselors, social workers, and educators. It also gives these professionals an opportunity to network, meet our team, and receive continuing education units for their professional development. The symposium reiterates our mission by connecting families to resources and a community of caregivers that provides support and understanding to each other," - Cristal Cummings, Chief Clinical Officer by @childrensharbor
