Really looking forward to hearing the extraordinary David Childs with the superb BBC National Orchestra of Wales performing my Euphonium Concerto next month at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, under the baton of the brilliant Martyn Brabbins… Inspired by a haunting Gaelic story of a fisherman lost at sea and the wife who returns to the shore each day to sing for him, the concerto explores love, longing and loss — and the hope that somehow endures through it all. It’s a work that means a great deal to me, and I’m so excited to hear David’s remarkable musicianship bring its story to life with BBC NOW. A special night to look forward to. by @childseuphonium

Not one but two phenomenal soloists alongside @bbcsso - what more could a Cumnock audience ask for? Jess Gillam and David Childs showed us exactly why we love music 🎷

Excited to be heading to Cumnock this weekend to join Sir James MacMillan and the BBC Scottish Symphony for a performance of ‘Where the Lugar Meets the Glaisnock’ in the very place that inspired its title! And as if that wasn’t enough, I get to join my good friend Chris Williams for a recital the following morning!

Should be a great couple of days at The Cumnock Tryst! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🎶

It’s Proms season! Huge thrill to rehearse at the @royalalberthall with @blackdykeband this morning.

Looking forward to tuning in for tonight’s @bbcsymphonyorchestra ‘Opening Night’ (featuring Fanfare for the Common Man), before returning on Sunday for our own concert. If you can’t be there in person, you can listen live at 11am on @bbcradio3. The band sounds incredible!

Fun concert last night after a fantastic few days as guest artist at the Accademia Italiana di Euphonium in San Polo dei Cavalieri near Rome 🇮🇹

Huge thanks to @luciano.euphonium for the warm hospitality and to Giuseppe Scattarreggia at @buffetcrampon_it_gr_cy_ma @bessonbrass for the continued support.

It was a real pleasure to connect with so many enthusiastic musicians and a special highlight to perform a duet with Luca!

Until next time! 🎶

Just completed two incredible concerts as soloist with the Royal Canadian Artillery Band at the Cantando Music Festival 🎶

We played to an audience of 3,000 in Whistler - one of the most stunning places I’ve ever visited and home of the 2010 Winter Olympics! I skipped the skiing this time, but did manage a walk through the woods… where the bears live! 🐻

A real highlight was reconnecting with my former student Tommy Vo and performing a duet together. He’s sounding fantastic - proud teacher moment.

Thanks to all involved 🙏🏻

As I wrap up my eighth year at @untcollegeofmusic as Professor of Euphonium, I’m filled with gratitude for the incredible students and colleagues that make this place so special.

This coming year, I’ll be taking a Faculty Development Leave (sabbatical). While I will truly miss working with my students, I’m looking forward to dedicating time to creative endeavors that have been waiting patiently on the back burner.

I’m especially delighted to share that, during my absence, UNT alum and former “President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band euphonium player @ryanmcgeorgemusic will be stepping in. Our students will be in outstanding hands and benefit from his expertise and artistry.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey so far - I’m excited for what’s ahead, both for me and for the studio. by @childseuphonium

I’m thrilled to be heading to the BBC Proms stage this summer. Catch me performing Peter Graham’s Force of Nature with @blackdykeband and @drnickchilds at the @royalalberthall for @bbcradio3 on 19 July. 🎉

With 86 concerts and more than 3,000 musicians across eight weeks, it’s set to be an extraordinary summer of music.
