For the ended July, a throwback to the World Cup in July last year and a jammer some of you might recognize! :)

Just some smooth as butter jamming for your Tuesday. Smooth jamming always feels particularly smooth to ref as well, you can often feel the skater focus on the same details you are :)

#rollerderby #rollerderbyworldcup2025 #teamchile

Y'all have been very nice this year so for the holidays you get more smooth @niliacnielk action from the 2025 World Cup :)

Causing significant impact when blocking out of bounds is not legal, and most often occurs when defending apex jumps.

The state of touching both in and out of bounds is called "straddling" and it is considered out of bounds for blocking others - but in bounds for being blocked! So possibly the worst place you can be as others are free to block you but you are not allowed to retaliate :)

In roller derby, as in most contact sports, minor technically illegal actions happen constantly. As referees, we want to penalize only the actions that have significant impact on gameplay, otherwise we want to interfere with the game as little as possible.

Again remember that these videos are just my view on the game and not objective truth - feel free to make your own assessment :) A lot of things regarding contact are subjective.
