Now to get those pattern chains talking to each other across instances. Absolute chug machine.

Full disclosure: these are made with Claude. I’ve wanted a drum sequencer that works the way I do, using rules based chains of smaller phrases to create long complex rhythms. That’s kind of spilled over into a sequencer for prototyping riffs in MIDI also. Eventually I may share these. The drum sequencer in particular is great for styles other than Djent. by @chimpspanner

Finally moved to a thunderbolt dock setup rather than having all my controllers, camlink, mic, etc all jammed into one USB 3 hub. Unexpected benefit; push/maschine/launchkey feel way more responsive. Like I’ve shaved another 15ms off. Who knew! by @chimpspanner

Working on some Monster Truck metal for @alibimusic and taking NAMRIG for a spin, powered by neural amp modeller. Still a bit sloppy and unbalanced in places but nice to have fun with some straight up metal. Hints of Swedish Melodeath! by @chimpspanner

I'm never very good at uploading pictures at the time. Just over 2 weeks ago we celebrated another anniversary and I am so grateful and lucky to have you to spend the rest of my life with. 👀 NEW EPISODE! KSCOPE PODCAST EPISODE - 191 - PRINCE OF FAILURE with Daniel Tompkins & Paul Ortiz
LISTEN on YouTube and all your other fave podcast listening places via the link in our bio

Our guests on this episode are Daniel Tompkins ( @rockwithdan @tesseractband @whitemothblackbutterfly) and Paul Ortiz (@chimpspanner ) who are together otherwise known as @prince.of.failure

You will hear how the pair met and why, after years of moving in the same circles, they decided that making music together would be a good idea!

As part of the discussion with host Remfry Dedman about their self titled album, the conversation steers naturally towards neurodiversity and how a diagnosis can be seen as a negative thing, but we hear how they have learned to really lean into it and realise how it can positively impact a person's creativity and that recognising traits in each other made the process of creating the album such a great experience.

They also explain that having both come from very technical and complex music backgrounds, they are starting to explore the concept of simplicity, creating big impactful moments, but not overly complicated. You can hear snippets of songs from the album which is out now. by @chimpspanner

Prince Of Failure - the new self-titled, studio album from Daniel Tompkins (TesseracT) and Paul Antonio Ortiz (Chimp Spanner) is out on Kscope

Rock Hard Magazine awarded the debut 8/10 stating “Tompkins' superb vocals elevate versatile modern prog tracks where a harsh, sci-fi coldness blends beautifully with subtle electronica and a slightly dark underlying atmosphere. Definitely recommended for Tesseract fans!”

Musically, the album develops the atmosphere of Daniel Tompkins’ earlier solo work into darker, more reflective territory. Paul’s spacious arrangements, electronic textures and powerful guitar work sit alongside intimate, close-mic vocals, creating a strong sense of immediacy without sacrificing the dynamic scope associated with Tompkins’ progressive background and work with TesseracT.

The album has been released on limited cream vinyl LP, classic black vinyl LP, CD and digitally.

@prince.of.failure’s self-titled debut album is out today.

Alongside the album release today, Prince Of Failure have also shared a new video for the track ‘Phantom’, created by Gavin - @tiltshift.vis

On the song Daniel explains "“The idea behind Phantom was to capture that feeling of being at war with yourself - when your own thoughts and desires become the enemy. There’s this constant tension between resisting and surrendering, and the song lives in that space. It’s aggressive, chaotic, and ultimately about facing the consequences of forces you can no longer control.”

Marking a significant shift in @rockwithdan 's creative world, Prince Of Failure was written and developed over several years with Paul Ortiz (@chimpspanner ) and traces a long internal process rather than a single moment of inspiration. The material reflects on neurodivergence, masking, and the psychological weight of living out of alignment with expectation - themes that shape both the narrative and the sound of the record. by @chimpspanner
