When I spotted this cotton floral fabric at Gold Hawk Street London, I knew I have to buy it to transform into my 3rd attempt of pattern #v8577. Unlike my previous two made of full lined, this round I only lined the bodice with cotton voile with interfaced waist band to strengthen the shape. No skirt lining in this project as the cotton fabric is thick and heavy enough for the drape. However I added hem facing for more professional look. #voguepatterns #vogue8577sewalong #1950style by @chingsews

I love how this self drafted 100% linen from Spain turn out. It simply matches colours of the blue sky and surrounding plants. Vertical and horizontal fabric grain used at bodice and skirt does make the dress speak for itself its joyful character. I always fancy geometric design of Spanish tiles and absolutely happy I only used 1.5m of 145cm width of the fabric to create the dress with matching front print belt. It also nice to wear with other solid colour belts or just be comfortable without belt. #spainlinen #summerwear #selfdraftedpattern #dressmaking by @chingsews

I bought this Zimmerman Italian linen exactly a year ago in London. This Italian linen is light weight and soft comparing to Spain and other linen I owned before, considering the highest grade among my collection.

I have mentally planned for a year to maximise every corner of this border print features watercolour of floral image. I finally decided to make separates to increase chances of wearing, mix and match for various occasions and weather. Despite I lead simple housewife life but I wish to make every moment is special and eventful.

Yellow instead of white cotton voile fabric used as full lining to enhance beige and light yellow background of outer fabric.

Made a 1930’s frock using #52328 My Vintage Wish Pattern. I am using embroided cotton stripe fabric to create contrast on side panels front and back skirt area. Love how it turn out to be comfortably wear in hot and humid weather. The contrast collar and sleeves details add character to overall garment. #1930sstyle #1930sfashion #1930svintage by @chingsews

Made a vintage 1930s #mccall8338 pattern dress using floral twill silk fabric from Jakel Kuala Lumpur textile store. It has front buttons opening with neckline tie and side opening. I am lazy to follow original design of front bound button holes and side snap buttons with hooks and eyes but replace with machine sewed button holes and side zipper. I have been wearing yesterday and today and proven comfortable to wear even in our country as fabric and lining used are chosen base on my comfort level. Gumnut Babies illustrated and written by May Gibbs 1916, children story book author. How lucky was I for grabbing last 2.5m of Gumnut Babies print cotton lawn fabric in closing down sale at Spotlight Malaysia.

I managed to produce a set of separate with limited fabric. The pleated skirt is fully cotton lined but not the top. The breathable earth tone cute print fabric not only skin friendly but brighten my days too. Both top and bottom are versatile to mix and match. by @chingsews

I am absolutely in love with this newly made #V1862 view A. The pattern may look complicated however the instruction is clear and not much adjustment made except shorter the waistline by one inch as usual to suit my body shape.

Made this 1933 frock using pdf pattern #52328 bought via Etsy. As this is old pattern and there is no details of step by step process. I have to use all my vintage sewing skill experience and some internet photos of how 1930s frock look like. I believe back then the pattern maker company assume purchasers are season sewists.

I am using reasonable price mint cotton fabric to make wearable muslin to test pattern.

I have decided to follow original instruction not to add lining and wear it with my own made petticoat shorts.

Belt buckle is vintage piece. Olive green buckle used to create contrast and pull attention to unique collar and over lapping long and short ties as the focal point.

I am in the middle of planning for other projects by changing fabric material, sleeves and collar but maintaining bodice and skirts.
