(((SAVE THE DATE))) Let’s jump in the time machine and head back to the early days of New York Hardcore and punk- There were only a handful of New York City bands holding it down, and one of them was Heart Attack. At the center of it was a young kid from Queens—Jesse Malin—a pre-teen already stepping into a world that would shape the rest of his life.
Queens… some say it’s the sacred breeding ground of New York punk. And Jesse came out of that soil. He was a man with a van and a plan. Maybe you remember Hope... Bellevue, Maybe- D Generation. Maybe you spent time at Coney Island High, or found yourself down at Niagara or the Bowery Palace... Wherever the downtown action was, Jesse seemed to be in the mix—connecting people, creating opportunities, building scenes within scenes, and waving that PMA flag.
And then came the solo years.
Jesse became a celebrated singer-songwriter, carving out a sound and proved there was a whole lot more underneath the leather jacket. His journey has been anything but predictable—and his influence on New York’s downtown creative community is undeniable .. Recently, Jesse faced one of the biggest battles of his life—a rare spinal stroke. But if you know Jesse, you already know the story doesn’t end there.Through will, determination, and Positive Mental Attitude, Jesse fought his way back to the stage—raising that PMA flag higher than ever. His spirit is inspiring. His generosity is legendary. And underneath it all, he’s a true gentleman of the people—a real New Yorker who has spent decades giving back to the community that helped shape him. His latest record A new 26-track collection called Friends of Jesse Malin: I Would Do It For You – Vol. 1 a tribute album is the first in a two-volume series of nearly 80 songs recorded by Jesse’s friends and community.
Now Jesse has opened up another creative door. He’s become an author. His new book, Almost Grown, is a deeply personal look at the people, places, music, friendships, chaos, and characters that helped make him who he is.
Forty Deuce Radio is honored to welcome a true downtown legend, a scene-maker, a storyteller, a survivor, and most importantly, a mensch.

💥Friday August 14 💥

Forty Deuce Radio is beyond excited for our next guests > Chris Stein and his wife Barbara Sicuranza!!!!

Some people help shape New York culture. Chris Stein helped define it.
Musician, songwriter, producer, photographer, author—a true New Yorker through and through—Chris has lived a life that's impossible to fit into a single conversation. As co-founder and guitarist of the legendary band Blondie, he helped create the soundtrack of an era and changed popular music forever.
Raised in Brooklyn, Chris attended Midwood High School before being expelled for his long hair—a fitting beginning for someone who would go on to challenge every convention. In 1973, he joined the Stilettoes, where he met Debbie Harry. A year later they formed Blondie, becoming central figures in the CBGB and Max's Kansas City scene before exploding onto the world stage.
Chris co-wrote some of Blondie's biggest classics, including "Heart of Glass," "Dreaming," "Rapture," "Rip Her to Shreds,"... Beyond Blondie, he co-hosted the groundbreaking public-access show TV Party, ran Animal Records, produced the iconic soundtrack to Wild Style, and worked with artists including Iggy Pop and The Gun Club. As a photographer, Chris created an extraordinary visual record of New York's punk explosion, documenting everyone from Debbie Harry and Blondie to Andy Warhol and H.R. Giger. His books—Negative: Me, Blondie, and the Advent of Punk, H.R. Giger: Debbie Harry Metamorphosis, and his acclaimed memoir Under a Rock—offer an intimate look at the people, places, and moments that shaped downtown New York.
Joining Chris is his wife of 27 years, Barbara Sicuranza —actress, photographer, creative force, and the mother of their two children. Barbara has long shared Chris's passion for art, photography, and storytelling, making this a conversation we're especially looking forward to. We're beyond honored to spend some time with these two extraordinary humans—talking music, photography, art, punk rock, old New York, and whatever else comes up along the way. So straighten your skinny tie and crank the volume! 😎🎶💯‼️⚡️

FRIDAY JULY 31st WWW.EASTVILLAGERADIO.COM 6-8 LIVE!

Michael McLeer, widely recognized as Mister Kaves, is an acclaimed artist, designer, author, and creative visionary whose work has long been inspired by the people, culture, and character of the Brooklyn neighborhood where he was born and raised.
His journey began in 1980 when, at just 11 years old, he picked up a spray can and painted the name KAVES on an MTA subway car. The rest is New York City history.
Over the decades, Kaves has built a remarkable career spanning graffiti, fine art, music, tattooing, film, design, and entrepreneurship. His ability to bridge street culture with contemporary art and storytelling has earned him recognition from major brands and established his place as one of Brooklyn's most respected creative voices.
His most ambitious project to date is The Brooklyn Pop, an 11,000-square-foot immersive experience that brings together visual art, music, film, and theatrical set design to celebrate Brooklyn's influence on global pop culture. At the heart of the exhibition is A Brooklyn Dream, an original immersive play written and directed by Kaves that unfolds throughout the space. The production tells a multi-generational underdog story inspired by his own life and shaped by the spirit of Brooklyn.
On our next show, Forty Deuce Radio, we'll sit down with Mister Kaves to discuss his journey—from painting subway cars to creating immersive cultural experiences—as well as the evolution of graffiti, art, music, and the New York City that continues to inspire his work.
Join us for an in-depth conversation with one of Brooklyn's most influential creative voices.
