Okay. The cat is out of the bag. I got to collaborate with @adidas for the opening of the Adidas Flagship Store, Lagos State. Integrating culture and storytelling into art and design is something that is becoming an essential element in my journey as an artist. The goal of this project was to showcase the Adidas brand with the cultural characteristics of Lagos through art and creativity. I was given the opportunity to design two rugs to be used at the Y-3 and Collections sections of the store, respectively. My vision was to combine elements of the brand with cultural stories that defined the essence of Lagos to offer a contemporary design. I'll definitely come back with more details about my creative ideas and process for this collaboration ( I still need to see the Eyo Rug come to life 😌). I am grateful to be part of this significant moment and be amongst the group of amazing artists who told their stories in unique ways. A huge thank you to @samthesunchild for being an amazing curator and trusting my vision on this project. You are a delight to work with. For close to 2 years, I haven't sold any print of my work. I closed off the online print store, and I haven't been vocal about my art being up for sale. Recently, I got an order for BLISS, a digital art piece from 2022, and it made me glad because even in quietness, someone wants my work as part of their collection. I'm thinking of bringing the store back and making a range of items available, not just art prints. I'll share an update soonest. 'God's Favour Beauty Salon' Pattern design Lately, there has been a conversation about hair and beauty and what is considered ideal. This is not a new conversation by any means. It is a tale as old as time. I designed this pattern to celebrate textured hair as identity, ritual, and resitance; particularly pushing against the narrative that natural hair and protective styles are unprofessional, unkempt, or difficult.
