😢 Sad news in caption.

✉️ A message from Alex ‘Shorty’ Brown.

“As most of you are aware, I ruptured the tendons in my groin back at big bowl 2022 within the first 5 mins of the very first game!!! 18 months on I had surgery, unfortunately that surgery did not go to plan and therefore I’m having to retire.

I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of my journey in flag, I’d like thank George Griffiths for being my motivation for wanting to get better at this sport when I first started playing flag! Neil Henderson for letting me join the sharks and realise my potential to reach the level that I did, I’d like to thank Corey Bedford, Will Quigley, Gareth Price at the sharks for pushing me to get better, I’d like thank Chris Jones for being my GB trial buddy all those years ago and once again pushing me to do as well as I could at GB trials.

I’d like to thank Greg Sim and Laura Dique for being my shoulder’s to lean/cry on whenever I wanted to quit or give up! They were both a big part of me never giving up especially Laura having to deal with me being in pain a lot and I’ll never be able to repay them for that!!! I’d also like to thank Greg, George Slade and Ashley Lewis for looking after/laughing at me when I injured myself in big bowl.

Its been an absolute privilege and joy to be to be part of the GB setup for the last 4/5 years and a total honour to be able to say that I got to represent GB at the euros! I’d like to thank everyone at the GB setup, especially Alan Young for giving me the chance to show what I can do on a European stage (even if I was injured), Dayle Kirby for helping and mentoring me while at the silvers, Alan Mead for supporting me at every GB camp and also keeping me from going insane.

There are lots of other people I would like to thank but I’d be here forever!!!
