Story time on how a client paid me in full… and then ghosted. Yep, you read that right. Several months ago, a client reached out super eager to get her brand identity done. We talked, she loved the process, and she paid the full invoice up front. No too much talk or questions, she sounded like one who knew exactly what she wanted. Great, right? Well, that was the last time I heard from her. I followed up. Emailed. DM’d. Sent gentle reminders. Even offered to reschedule our kickoff call a few times. Nothing. Total silence. At first, I was worried maybe something happened. Then confused. Then honestly… a little annoyed. Because I had carved out time, prepped for her brand strategy session, and held space in my schedule. Here is what this weird little episode taught me: 👉🏼 Not every “yes” is ready. 👉🏼 Payment doesn’t always mean commitment. 👉🏼 And my time and energy are just as valuable as my skillset.
